Gwyneth Paltrow separates from Chris Martin - a quick look at astrological influences

Gwyneth Paltrow - birth chart
Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin announced their split today after 10 years of marriage and what was a notoriously private relationship. Gwyneth Paltrow has a packed 8th house – the house of sudden transformation and secrets. Her Sun, the planet that in her case rules her relationships has been under pressure from Uranus, the planet of sudden transformation and change, Pluto, the planet of deep transformation and Jupiter, the planet that blows it all out of proportion for some time. Now that Mars, the planet that in her case is responsible for communication and making public announcements, is also adding to the mix, it is quite clear to see how the separation and eventual divorce has come about for a number of months or even years, since about 2010.

Annual horoscope 2014 / 2015 - Pisces

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the 2014 horoscope for birthdays from 15th March to 13th April or Pisces Ascendants and Moons

Happy birthday Pisces. What a year you’ve had! Changes in career and around the home were most likely as well as challenges in your most intimate relationships. Pisceans are becoming more individualistic, innovative and independent leaving less room for the victim mentality Pisceans are not adverse to. So, to sum it up, you’ve already seen many, many changes within and around yourself in the past year and the ride continues this year. The first significant change is your ruler, Jupiter, is moving into the sign of Cancer and into the area of your chart to do with fun, romance and children. During this transit which lasts for a whole year, single Pisceans can meet a significant other life partner in an entertainment setting such as the theatre. Many Pisceans will also use this transit to get involved in creative activities such as performing, writing and acting. Teaching is also part of this area of your chart so some of you could also take on a mentoring role at work. In any case, this is a great time to be creative and enjoy life. Jupiter is in a good aspect to your sign and will provide some valuable support as you continue to go through personal and professional challenges. Jupiter will give you the necessary ‘joy the vivre’ to get through some of 2014’s more intense periods.

From now until mid-July, Mars energises your relationship sector. Pisceans that are single may now be actively looking and if you are then, you could meet someone quite quickly. It seems as though you are putting a lot of focus on this area in your life, more than you have done during the previous two years. If you are coupled up or are involved in a business relationship, this Mars transit could have bring some financial matters to the fore that need to be discussed and sorted. Be aware of petty arguments, your fuse is relatively short these days. If finances are indeed a source of concern, then the eclipses in April and May 2014 put a final stop to this before the second major planetary shift this year takes place. This involves the Rahu and Ketu, the nodes of the Moon changing signs in July and moving out of your money zone and into your relationship sector. So, if you have been putting your energies into working on relationship issues, discussing what needs to be discussed and as a result, coming to a certain realisation, then Rahu or the North node in your relationship sector can bring the desired progress and a new direction.

For the coming 18 months, Pisceans will place a lot of emphasis on making a casual relationship more committed or if you are single, you will want to find someone to be with. Especially around the eclipse times in September and October 2014 and then again six months later in 2015, relationship opportunities, issues and demands will need to be worked through whether you are single or not. The North node is where we need to develop further and a bit like a Saturn transit, is a time when we have to focus and work on a certain area in life – in your case, it’s all about interacting with others. At times, this can also be a somewhat disruptive influence but think of it as the growing pains, ultimately, however, with a lot of opportunity attached to it.

The first of the eclipses across the areas of your chart to do with self and significant others takes place on 24th September. This is a solar eclipse in your relationship sector and in opposition to Uranus can mean, for example, a very sudden engagement or for others, a sudden beginning of a new relationship. Whatever relationship matters you are facing over this time, they are not without their challenges – the eclipses will be tied into the ongoing square between Uranus and Pluto, both of which are responsible for driving you into a completely new life direction these days. The lunar eclipse on 8th October is in your 1st house and again conjunct Uranus. Whatever began or happened in April 2013 is drawing to a close and coming to its natural end. It’s a time for you to claim or reclaim your independence and once more, relationships can now transform quite quickly – only this time something has to give. This may not be a bad thing, you will still have Jupiter supporting your endeavours, it can simply mean a sudden change in status, from whatever came before.

You end your solar year in 2015 with Saturn moving out of your money sector ad over the past 2.5 years, you will, hopefully have learnt how to pull your purse strings tighter and you now have a solid savings plan in place. The next two years are a period where your learning curve is around self-improvement. This includes further education and research – some of you are perhaps looking at subjects around psychology and gender issues. Although Pisceans love travelling to foreign places, this is not a time for that now. Instead you will be more likely pondering the meaning of life and if there is a God – all in preparation for the new you to emerge and your new life path to unfold over the coming months and years. Have a great year, Pisces!

March 2014 horoscope - Aries

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 14th April to 15th May or Aries Ascendants or Moons

Aries, March is a busy month for you both physically – i.e. you are busy sorting things out running from A to B to get things done but also in terms of relationships which is the one area of your chart where you are seeing a major rewind and restart. Things that have been left unspoken are now discussed, perhaps more carefully than before and perhaps with more thought behind it than before. Both Mars and Saturn are going backwards this month until May and July respectively, making sure you digest and take on board any lessons around relationships that were put in your path. This is not necessarily a time of action and a lot of forward movement although the eclipse in April is a turning point, it is more a time of consolidation. Many Aries are now keen to form close and committed partnerships and there always has to be some level of give and take. This is what you realise now. Equally, every new relationship has a period of adapting and getting to know each other and even if you have been in the same partnership for some time, you are now being asked to rediscover this person or work on underlying issues and currents that have determined the flow of the relationship for some time if not years. It’s important to be honest now with your partner and your feelings and encourage the same from him or her.

Generally speaking, from an astrological perspective, March is an exciting month with Jupiter, the planet of luck and abundance moving forward on 7th March, Saturn and Mars going retrograde for quite some time and two new Moons in the same month. The first of the two takes place on 1st March in Aquarius and in the area of your chart to do with your gains, your hope and your wishes and your future. Much of this may be tied into your living situation. Whatever you put into motion now will bear its fruits around September to December 2014. Once this new Moon has passed, Jupiter moves forward again in the area of your chart to do with your own efforts, handmade goods and crafts, sales, communications, writing and skills training. You may have developed some of these areas in the past months and if you have found that you’ve learnt something new around any of these points, it would have most likely been around communication with others – in particular you partner. You may have found a way to better express how you feel or what you want. Much of this is the result of you thinking a lot at the moment – you also change your mind a lot these days but this is part of the process. March is also a month to crack on with your own business ideas where you can rely on your own efforts only. If this is the case (and even if not!), March will become a busy month work-wise towards the end of the month as, first of all through the full Moon on 16th March in Virgo. This full Moon is in the nakshatra of Hasta and is ruled by the Moon. According to ancient astrology, this nakshatra has the power to manifest what one seeks and is a placement of healing through the hands but also through the mind, i.e. our intellect. As this nakashatra is ruled by the Moon, we’re also trying to protect what we have and those we love avoiding any unnecessary disruption and risk at all cost. During these times, there may also be a tendency to parent our partners which now comes from a need to comfort and protect those around us. For you, healing can take place quite physically if you have been feeling unwell or stressed.

Secondly, Mars, the planet of action, goes retrograde on 2nd March until 20th May and also enters your house of daily routines, work and health issues. There may be obvious issues to work on in these areas but if not, then this is a good time to focus on nutrition and exercise and for some of you even helping others to do the same. This can be a time of healing for you on a number of levels if you are willing to see the bigger picture and do the ground work in terms of health and work. The end of March is a time to recuperate from the past year – although it may not be easy to relax at the moment, try and take some time off. It’s the calm before the storm, before you have to go knuckle down again during a busy April that – work and relationship-wise – will keep you on your toes. Have a great month, Aries!

March 2014 horoscope - Taurus

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th May to 15th June of Taurus Ascendants and Moons

For many Taureans daily routines and work have become a source of stress and have perhaps also affected your wellbeing over the past year or two. As a result or due to other incidences at and around work, you have been thinking about doing something more creative with your time, something where you can apply your intuitive skills and your counselling abilities (many Taureans are good listeners). Of course the money has to be right too and the good news is that March is a month where you can make some real progress in this area if you wish. A lot is happening in your money houses, around your business associates and acquaintances who these days are more eccentric than they used to be in the past. March is a month where you are very ‘visible’, you get noticed by the right people and if you have been rethinking some business idea or if you have been waiting for investors to come forth and people to couple up with to launch your money spinning ideas, March is a time when things can start falling into place. If you are not so keen on the idea of being self-employed, then this is also a good time to apply for a new position and one where your ability to help others is recognised and required. This is the stuff that makes you feel good these days and the kind of area where you are most suited to. Regardless of your chosen profession though, you certainly have the ability to attract money to you now - in particular as Jupiter, the planet of abundance, is going forward again in the area of your chart to do with income after a five month retrograde period. For some Taureans that have a steady job, additional income sources could also be from family and business or romantic partners.

Generally speaking, from an astrological perspective, March is an exciting month with Jupiter, the planet of luck and abundance moving forward on 7th March, Saturn and Mars going retrograde for quite some time and two new Moons in the same month. The first of the two takes place on 1st March in Aquarius and in the area of your chart to do with career, allowing for a new start in this area or a new cycle, a new layer that’s being added to your life direction. There is a lot of discussion going on not only around creative projects, planning, budgets and financing but also around your role in all of this and your remuneration. Although a lot of Teaureans would rather go on a holiday now, work is busy this month! Taureans that are not working may now focus on their home life more than usual.

As you prepare for one of the most important relationship lessons of your life (probably) which starts later in the year and goes on for 2 ½ years, matters of romance and light-hearted fun become more pressing issues over the next weeks and months. First through the full Moon on 16th March in Virgo that puts the spotlight on this area of your chart. Although there have been and will be full Moon with a lot more impact than this one, of course it puts the focus on a certain point in your chart. So yes, romance is highlighted and things could develop quite suddenly but in particular in your case this full Moon can be a time when you complete a writing or literature project or perhaps a teaching course.

It may be that romantic interests and some light hearted fun are particularly healing at the moment, so enjoy! It’ll all get a lot more serious towards the end of the year and into next.

Secondly, Mars, the planet of action, goes retrograde on 2nd March until 20th May and also enters your house of romance, fun and children. Your partner or the one you enter into a relationship with is now the one that s a source of joy – although a little argumentative at times, he or she is the one distracting you from an increasingly heavy work schedule over the next few weeks. Thank God the money side of things is on the up! Have a great month, Taurus!

March 2014 horoscope - Gemini

I follow the Vedic calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th June to 15th July or Gemini Ascendants and Moons

Gemini, March is a month of progress for you in the areas that currently matter most to you – your relationships and your joint futures. After some time of deliberation and you weighing up your options, the picture becomes a lot clearer and you perhaps begin to realise that the recent stumbling blocks of the past weeks or more were put in your path for you to slow down and put all your ducks in one row. For many Geminis it was an intense start to the year but you begin this month with a sense of optimism, a newly found idealism and a joy for life. Your views are firmly set towards the future and your plans, which mainly concern relationships. Whether you are coupled up or not, you are likely to encounter other people that go under your skin. This is a chance for you to establish a connection with someone that's deeper than what you've known in the past. This is a new and valuable experience for many (typical) Geminis that usually prefer the lighthearted banter to the energy that's presented to them at this moment. Equally, and some may have already experienced it in the recent past, but in March and moving forward, you'll have to watch out for those particular 'others' that are overly controlling and domineering - or for you to develop these tendencies. Come the end of March and into April in particular, things are heating up again and conversations around money and / or where you live can put a few little stumbling blocks in your way.

But generally speaking, from an astrological perspective, March is an exciting month with Jupiter, the planet of luck and abundance moving forward on 7th March, Saturn and Mars going retrograde for quite some time and two new Moons in the same month. The first of the two takes place on 1st March in Aquarius and in the area of your chart to do with travel and education. You've developed a new sense of understanding in the past years, a certain creativity and intuition that has given you  a new perspective on life, the world and everything else. With this new Moon, your intuition is at a peak and so is your desire to see new places in the world and people that appeal to your creative and (now) very intuitive and even spiritual nature. March is a month of greater optimism and I've mentioned relationships already but connected to that is also your entire life direction and career. Both areas in life may have seen new avenues and for some an entirely new direction. Embarking on a new path doesn't happen over night and the recent retrograde periods of Jupiter and your ruler Mercury have given you the time to get your thoughts straight. Gemini is a mutable sign and you have to do things a few times and look at things from all perspectives before you move forward - now it's all systems go. Money also plays a part in this and where previously you looked into savings plans, options for loans and mortgages, this month, you are ready to make a decision in this area.

As the month goes on, your home life and environment becomes a more pressing matter. First through the full Moon on 16th March in Virgo which brings an issue to do with the home to an end or provides a natural conclusion. This full Moon is likely to be connected to finances so for those Geminis looking for a home or releasing money for a mortgage, this is the time to go press ahead. Whatever began in September 2012 is now in its final stages or ends completely, something to do with home and money is moving on to the next level.

For you, much of this is connected to the home now and if things are becoming disruptive or things are developing quickly, remember that this has been coming for some time now.

Secondly, Mars, the planet of action, goes retrograde on 2nd March until 20th May and also impacts your home life. You might quite literally be on the move so a certain disruption is natural and often stress levels rise at this time. While you can achieve a lot now, trying to do too much at once can leave you feeling as though you've simply not done enough which in turn can make you feel dissatisfied. Be careful not to let it out on your partner or those you live.

The second new Moon at the end of March is in the area of your chart to do with your career and life direction. It is conjunct Uranus, the planet of sudden and erratic change and behaviour, forming a square with Pluto, the planet of transformation and opposing Mars. All these planets are in angles in your chart and often, the most life changing events take place during this time. For me and in your case, these are connected to the your relationships and your relationship status, your home and tied into both areas, also your finances. While for some Geminis, career changes are on the cards (or the stars!!), the main focus is now on changes in your life direction. Have a great month, Gemini!

March 2014 horoscope - Cancer

I follow the Vedic calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th July to 15th August or Cancer Ascendants and Moons

Cancer this is a month of intimacy, partnerships and a joint financial future whether with a business partner of your closest intimate ally. But generally speaking, from an astrological perspective, March is an exciting month with Jupiter, the planet of luck and abundance moving forward on 7th March, Saturn and Mars going retrograde for quite some time and two new Moons in the same month. The first of the two takes place on 1st March in Aquarius and in the area of your chart to do with other people’s money, intimacy, psychology and secrets. Many Cancerians may have started a new relationship over the past few months or thought about it in a more serious manner. Perhaps your feelings, intuition and that thing you can’t put your finger on has distracted you slightly so that there was little time to concentrate on this area in your life. This month, there is a lot of opportunity to realise what you need to do to move forward, how to get there and how to achieve your financial ambitions and a bit more emotional security that may have been lacking for some time – for those ambitions, others will be crucial. The first new Moon of the month is an opportunity to make necessary arrangements in that respect, apply for loans in the right places, talk to important others in your life and sort out the paperwork.

Equally, this may be a time to become more aware of your emotional needs. Jupiter moves forward again in the area of your chart to do with your intuition, preparing you for a new growth cycle come the summer. Jupiter is also in a very strong position now to enable you to go on the trip of a lifetime. The 12th house is the house of faraway places so going somewhere that deeply changes your outlook and perception looks likely.

Over the coming weeks and in particular the next two months, travelling and interacting with those at a distance becomes a real possibility. However, a lot of Cancerians may crave new experiences and insights, either through further education or training, again, this will become a more pressing matter as the weeks go by and one that challenges your way of thinking, your way or interacting and looking at the world. Travelling may well form part of the picture but it doesn’t seem to be just as pleasurable as that. There seems to be a challenge and an endurance test attached to it. This has been developing for a little while now, so this is nothing new to you but needs to be addressed again this month and especially next.

You will first need to address an issues, challenges or opportunities around the full Moon on 16th March. This full Moon brings whatever began in September 2012 to a conclusion. For some, this can be a collaborative project with international colleagues, creating and launching your own business which has proven a real learning curve and challenge or a training course that’s taken a lot of your energy and focus. In your chart, this is a creative combination so writing and working with your hands can also feature strongly.

For you, this can also be a time of counseling others and helping them through their own issues and worries.

Secondly, Mars, the planet of action, goes retrograde on 2nd March until 20th May and enters your house of your own efforts, ideas, your mind, communication, meetings and sales efforts. While this is a time of educating yourself and receiving further training, this is also a time period for you during which you can focus on creating something from nothing. Especially activities connected to writing, marketing and if you are considering a change in jobs, which is a possibility now although not necessarily a strong one, then applying, reviewing your CV and reconnecting with your contacts is something to focus on now.

The new Moon on 31st March is in the area of your chart to do with travelling and higher education and awareness. It is conjunct Uranus, the planet of sudden and erratic change and behaviour forming a square with Pluto, the planet of transformation and opposing Mars, the planet of action and aggression – while a lot can be put into motion, such as your travel plans and research projects, your romantic connections and career ambitions may need a rethink or slight change in direction. Have a great month, Cancer!

March 2014 horoscope - Leo

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th August to 15th September or Leo Ascendants and Moons

From an astrological perspective, March is an exciting month with Jupiter, the planet of luck and abundance moving forward on 7th March, Saturn and Mars going retrograde for quite some time and two new Moons in the same month. The first of the two takes place on 1st March in Aquarius and in the area of your chart to do with your closest relationships. For you, relationships are of prime importance at the moment or at least of a great focus. Perhaps you have to look after a loved one or this new Moon is the beginning of a very romantic period in your life. Your expectations and ideals are high at the moment which is not a bad thing, you just need to be clear about what it is that you want in relationships whether personal or business related.

Once this new Moon has passed, Jupiter moves forward again and if you have felt a lack of support from friends or acquaintances or more likely a rewind of certain projects and a slight lack of cash flow, then March should see some improvement on this side. A lot of it will be down to better communication and your ability to get the message across. This will not only benefit your financial situation but Jupiter currently also supports your relationships as he does for all fixed signs until the summer. But back to finances, which will become a more pressing matter over the next weeks and months. Firstly, through the full Moon on 16th March in Virgo and in the area in your chart to do with finances. What you had to deal with at the end of last year and the beginning of this year needs a little but more attention. Perhaps you have been thinking about buying a property, doing up your current one or renting it out – in any case, you will have to deal with money again this month and next to tie up any loose ends. Even though as a Leo, you like your luxuries but this is not the time to spend money.

This full Moon is in an area on your chart that also has to do with your family, food and how you express yourself verbally, so you may be quite protective of your nearest and dearest now, protect them and if necessary defend their interests. The same of  course goes for your finances – money is important to Leos and now is a time when you have to think about how you earn an income, how much you have available to spend and how much you need to put aside for future needs.

Secondly, Mars, the planet of action, goes retrograde on 2nd March until 20th May and enters this same area in your chart. While a lot will, again, have to do with you going after money in a straight forward, perhaps even aggressive manner, there is also a part of you that makes rash financial decisions now, so be aware of that. Again, it can have to do with the home, your sense of security, bank loans and insurance deals, tax or inheritance matters. The end of the month sheds a lot of light on these issues and an ‘opportunity’ to move forward in this area whether you want it or not. The full Moon might have taken a source of income away from you – if you rent a property, one of the tenants might move out – but the new Moon opens a door for you. Initially, walking through this door is not an easy step to make, this new Moon is conjunct Uranus, the planet of sudden and erratic change and behaviour, forming a square with Pluto, the planet of transformation, and opposing aggressive and argumentative Mars – not an easy feast to start with. However, you do have Jupiter on your side so your partner or simply ‘others’ in your life can lend a helping hand and be a good source of advice to you now.

With Saturn going retrograde on 3rd March until 20th July 2014, you’ll also have time to hone your skills. Saturn is in an area in your chart at the moment that, in Indian astrology, is called an ‘upachaya’ house – one that improves over time. As you go through life, the way you communicate, the way you apply you skills and how you interact with colleagues, how you get your ideas across and how you work with others to implement those improves. Leos, especially those with a Leo Ascendant, are going through an important learning curve now. For some, this quite literally includes a training course or further education. As you go through the year and perhaps the final stages of any skills training you’re undertaking, putting more effort and focusing your mind will become more and more important. Have a great month, Leo!

March 2014 horoscope - Virgo

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th September to 15th October or Virgo Ascendants and Moons

Virgo, this is quite an interesting month for you with a full Moon in your own sign and a new Moon in the opposite sign to yours, Pisces. Already this indicates that relationships are accentuated whether romantic or business related. This also impacts your one to one contacts with friends and others around you. Generally speaking, from an astrological perspective, March is an exciting month with Jupiter, the planet of luck and abundance moving forward on 7th March, Saturn and Mars going retrograde for quite some time and two new Moons in the same month. In addition, your ruler, Mercury, is also going direct again clearing up some of the confusion, delays or misunderstandings around romance, writing, children and other creative 'projects'.

Now, the first of the two new Moons takes place on 1st March in Aquarius and in the area of your chart to do with health, daily work but also conflict and other imbalances that affect you physically or mentally. Although new Moons are always new beginning or a new phase in one area of your chart or another, this one is accompanied by Neptune, the planet of illusion, so if you are experiencing a little conflict around you and within your group of friends and acquaintances,  don't take everyone for face value. However, this is a good placement for those involved in alternative therapies such as art therapy, hypnotherapy, mediation and enhancing intuitive powers, those working with others on their addictions and those wanting to work with those in need - and there are many way and routes you can go down. Many Virgo have been thinking about changing careers, this month you can make first steps towards that.

Once this new Moon has passed, Jupiter moves forward again in the area of your chart to do with career and profession. For many Virgos, new learning was on the cards and new opportunities have opened up since the summer of last year. As we now head towards the summer of 2014, you'll 'begin' to make up your mind about which of these professional opportunities you would like to pursue and whichever one you choose, you can look forward to a profitable second half of the year! Equally, your living situation will continue to be under scrutiny and many of you wishing to move, sell or buy have a better chance of turning this into reality once March comes around. It seems as though you have been waiting for work to sort itself out and now that this is falling into place over the next weeks and months, your home will follow.

The same goes for relationships which in the more recent past have not seen a lot of stability. Over the course of March, thing become clearer. You're more certain about what you want and how to get it and the certain Other in your life is a little more willing to commit than over the past months and in particular since the beginning of the year. Although you're not out of the woods just yet, throughout the year, you'll have issues to discuss and choices to make. In March, however, you are in the limelight come mid-month and it's almost like you can take your pick. The full Moon on 16th March in Virgo is the time of the year when you come full circle and for you, this is a time of wish fulfilment, a time of reaping the rewards when it comes to your work bonuses and other profits and a time to spend with your friends and associates. And yes, the focus will be on relationships and romance, perhaps more so than in other years - certainly come your birthday in September time.

For you, if you are partnered up, this can certainly be the case around your partnerships a well as your friends.

Mars, the planet of action, goes retrograde on 2nd March until 20th May and enters your sign. In tour case, this has to do with money and your ideas and innovations, very broadly speaking. In more detail, this could be about any manual work or hobby that you are strongly involved in and which you require funding for. It could be a writing or research project that has to do with topics such as psychology, surgery or cognitive behaviour patterns. In any case, there seems to be a lot of paperwork around, forms to fill in or contacts to set up.  If you are indeed applying for a loan, mortgage or any other financial support, Saturn going retrograde on 3rd March until 20th July 2014 is a time for you to go back to something that you looked at last year already and which was also connected to your finances.

The final new Moon on 31st March is in Pisces and is conjunct Uranus, the planet of sudden and erratic change and behaviour forming a square with Pluto and opposing Mars. In your area of committed relationships, this makes for a fiery and challenging end of the month and beginning of April. The challenges you face now are nothing new and you will have experienced these upheavals over the past couple of years every now and then. But even though tension is in the air, this new moon is a new start and a chance to break free from others' erratic or even manipulative behaviour. Perhaps you are the one who requires more freedom - and so be it - but be clear in getting your point across and don't get overly argumentative, you've got a bit of a tendency for that at the moment. Have a great month, Virgo!
