May 2013 horoscope - Virgo

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th September to 15th October or Virgo Ascendants and Moons

By Louise Gilbert
Virgo, for you as well as your opposite sign of Pisces, it’s all about the money at the moment but where you may feel more restricted in what you can achieve based on your own income, you may have more luck when it comes to other people’s money compared to your fellow mutable sign. The main focus in your chart is on this area at the moment as you may be applying for loans to set up home, fund a further education course or even go on a big trip. For me, this is where you seem to want to spend your money on and April 2013 may have been one of the more intense months of the year for you so far with the first of the eclipses affecting your finances and with the ongoing square between Pluto and Uranus being exact at the end of April. Around the time of the lunar eclipse in April, one door that, in the past, would have led you to a secure source of income may have dried up or you were declined the loan that you needed to move forward with your projects. The aftermath of these events may still be leaving you a little insecure and unsure of your next steps. So, it was a time of conclusions, something came to an end and brought things out in the open that you may have felt coming for some time – for some of you perhaps not entirely negative. This now means that although it is still a time of powerful change, transformation and a turning point for many Virgos, May 2013 should feel more like a month of new beginnings and progress rather than sudden developments that took you by surprise.

Although there may still be some obstacles and some pushing and pulling where your finances are concerned – perhaps you are broadening your scope to apply for funds elsewhere or a relative or your partners step up to lend a hand and you are now discussing the finer details. In any case, for the first week in May, the stellium in Aries promises a lot of quick action and reaction, determination and hopefully progress in this area. You now know what needs to be done and you are taking action to get it sorted.

All of this is leading up to the solar eclipse this month which in addition to another lunar eclipse on 25th May, takes place on 10th May. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon stands between the Sun and Earth. This means that a solar eclipse is always a new Moon, marking new beginnings. However, a new Moon also cuts off the light of the Sun, so whatever is beginning now, may not carry all the details that you need to make informed decisions and really understand what it is that is coming into your life now. As with the lunar eclipse, solar eclipses bring in life’s big events – a marriage or divorce, birth or pregnancy, a house sale or purchase or an important trip. Whatever it is, things are progressing swiftly now and the planets are intent on pushing you towards your next step. The emphasis really is more on the beginning than the finish – you’ve done that with the lunar eclipse at the end of April. Whatever is beginning now could be phased in over a period of months and you should expect to reap the rewards of the seeds sown around the time of the next lunar eclipse in October and until February 2014 when you will reach another milestone. So, although Saturn’s arrival in your house of income last year would have been an unwelcome change of pace, coupled with the eclipses, your financial situation should be more solid than it was ever before this time next year. April and May 2013 are peak times for you to take a look at what you need, what you have and where you need to make adjustments.

In terms of vedic astrology, this solar eclipse is in the nakshatra of Bharani, ruled by the Venus, which will be transiting through her own sign of Taurus. The nakshatra of Bharani has an understanding and a sixth sense for the acquisition of accrued wealth but this nakshatra also represents the person who ‘carries and bears’. So, you may well be in a stronger position financially or at least you are able to see the light at the end of the tunnel as you’ve worked on your strategy – perhaps with your partner – at the same time, you may end up with a little more responsibility than before. But that’s fine, after all, the prodding and poking is meant to help get your finances on a better footing.

As the month progresses, The Sun, Mercury, Venus move on and join Jupiter in Taurus in your house of further education, travel, teaching, mentoring and wisdom. This is a good placement for you, as it increases your optimism and helps you look at the bigger picture again after what may have been a bit of a stressful and slightly irritating few weeks for you. Venus, the ruler of your money house, in her own sign of Taurus could lift your spirits, while your own ruler, Mercury, joins Jupiter who, in your chart, looks after your most committed relationships. This should really be a beautiful time and coupled with the lunar eclipse on 25th May in the sign of Taurus. On the one hand, you could now complete a work project, you may be sealing a deal or passing your driving license if that what you are currently working on. You could set off on a trip around the world or launch a venture that once started as some bright idea. On the other hand, if you are single, you could now meet someone, perhaps someone from abroad or with connections abroad and make a significant commitment to that person. It seems as though this could also be someone who is a bit of a mentor to you and a bit of an opposite to you, someone who is able to demonstrate to you that looking at things with a bird’s eye view is sometimes more satisfying than getting even the smallest of details right – all the time.

May 2013 horoscope - Libra

I follow the Vedic calendar; this is the monthly horoscope for birthdays from 16th October to 15th November or Libra Moons and Ascendants

By Louise Gilbert
You are in the midst of restructuring your life and the past few months may have been quite intense as you filter through the drawers, the attic and the cellar to make room for what’s to come. In particular, those Libras born at the end of October or those with their Ascendant and Moon at around 13 degrees of Libra (plus Minus 3 degrees) are feeling the current Saturn transit the most. Saturn is hard work and it may not feel as though you are being given the chance to move on and get rid of some old baggage as, at the moment, it will feel more like you are burdened with even more responsibilities. However, during these times, it’s important to realise that the longer you hold on to outdated ideas, situations and even people that once were steady companions, the longer you feel that you are getting nowhere and the goals and objectives you are trying to reach based on the bare bones of your new life are moving further and further out of your sight.

With all the focus on your evolving self, relationships you have recently initiated may have fallen on the wayside or existing ones have faced some unprecedented or may be not so unexpected hurdles as April 2013 was one of the more intense months of the year so far with the first of the eclipses affecting your area of self and how and what kind of relationships fit into your new outlook and circumstances. In addition, the ongoing square between Pluto and Uranus is still close and was exact at the end of April are pulling the strings when it comes to your day to day work and employment as well as your mental flexibility and capacity. Pluto in your third house of the mind and Saturn over your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is no mean feat as you are now thinking more profoundly and with more penetration about everything than you did before, questioning things you once took for granted. From around mid-May, this may be even more pronounced as planet are gathering in an area of your chart to do with the breadth and depth of the human mind and soul, the psyche and psychology, transformation and, at the end, rebirth. So, all in all, this is still a time of powerful change, transformation and a turning point for many Libra Sun, Moons and Ascendants. But as opposed to sudden developments that took you by surprise in late April in particular around relationships, May should feel more like a month of new beginnings and progress. If your Moon is in Libra, you’ll be particularly glad to hear this as April could have been the peak of an already emotionally quite challenging time.

For the first week in May, the stellium in Aries promises a lot of quick action and reaction, focus, determination and hopefully progress where partnerships are concerned. Although there may still be some obstacles and some pushing and pulling in this area, the upcoming solar eclipse on 10th May in your opposite sign of Aries promises a new beginning in this area. If you are single, then this new Moon should give you new hope and perhaps someone enters your life who will become a constant fixture in your life over the next few months. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon stands between the Sun and Earth and is always a new Moon. Although this also means that something has to end before something new can come in, the emphasis really is more on the beginning than the finish – you’ve done that with the lunar eclipse at the end of April. Whatever is beginning now could be phased in over a period of months and you should expect to reap the rewards of the seeds sown around the time of the next lunar eclipse in October and until February 2014 when you will reach another milestone. So, if events throughout the month of April shot ripples through existing relationships, ending what no longer is meant to be in your life moving forward, then this solar eclipse can sweep in a new partnership or someone who makes you realise that life goes on.

In vedic astrology, this solar eclipse is in the nakshatra of Bharani, ruled by the Venus, which will be transiting through her own sign of Taurus. The nakshatra of Bharani has an understanding and a sixth sense for the acquisition of accrued wealth but this nakshatra also represents the person who ‘carries and bears’. For you this may mean that although new opportunities around relationships appear, it could at the same time result in more responsibility…but for you, it’s all about commitment these days anyway. Take it as an opportunity to understand what commitment to yourself and others means.

While this primarily concerns relationships, the solar eclipse can also have an impact on your job if your Sun is in Libra at around 13 degrees or those born at the end of October. The solar eclipse opposite your Sun, which represents authority figures, your father and your profession, can open up new professional directions for you as new responsibilities or projects land on your desk. You could play a starring role now in and for your team.

And then the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Jupiter are all moving through the same house and an area in your chart which has to do with secret money, inheritance and generally speaking other people’s resources. This area in your chart was already ‘blessed’ with Jupiter’s presence for the past year and could have helped increase your bank balance or at the very least access to funds. For a good part of May 2013, the emphasis on the activities is still on the increase as you may be applying for a loan, sorting through your taxes or dealing with inheritance issues or paperwork. In all likelihood, whatever began back in November 2011 is coming to a conclusion now around 25th May as the lunar eclipse puts the spotlight on your own source of income versus the money you get from other people. This is also the area that rules money (and losses!) from marriage as well as lawsuits – with Venus your ruler in her own sign, it looks like after all, the outcome is a favourable one for you if a court case has been on the agenda for you or you had to bring in solicitors to sort out joint finances.

May ends with a whole new phase for all of us as Jupiter shifts into the sign of Gemini and with it, some of your optimism, sense of adventure and broader way of thinking returns…more on that next month!

Have an optimistic month, Libra!

May 2013 horoscope - Scorpio

I follow the sidereal/vedic calendar; this is the May 2013 horoscope for birthdays from 16th November to 15th December or Scorpio Ascendants and Moons

By Louise Gilbert
Overworked and underpaid? The stellium in zodiac sign of Aries continues to put a heavy workload on your shoulders until about mid-month and it’s time to keep your head down and work through those assignments that land on your desk. Although the area in your chart has to do with your day-today job and routines and less so with your actual career, the Sun travels alongside Mars, Venus and Mercury for a little while in early May, so it’s still a chance to shine for you and attract the attention of the powers that be. Whatever it is that lands on your desk now and whenever Aries is involved, things can progress with the speed of light. Aries is also the sign that likes to go it alone, so if you are thinking of setting up shop on your own, now seems to be a good time to start making that first step. A lot is brewing underneath your surface at the moment and with the eclipses highlighting this area in your chart in particular at this month, this could be a realistic possibility.

Of course these sentiments or developments are nothing new to you as April 2013 was already one of the more intense months of the year so far with the first of the eclipses affecting this area in your life and with the ongoing square between Pluto and Uranus being exact at the end of April. For you Scorpio, this means that whatever has suddenly changed at work – perhaps a colleague has left, you’ve got a new boss, a new office location or as I said, new projects to work on or ongoing ones to bring to completion – is still taking place and being progressed in May.

Although the Pluto / Uranus square is now waning slightly as Pluto is going retrograde until 20th September, it is still a time of powerful change, transformation and a turning point for many Scorpios. However, it should feel more like a month of new beginnings and progress rather than sudden developments that took you by surprise. But whatever it is, you are very efficient at the moment and you now know what needs to be done.

However, with so much going on at work, your energy levels may be lower than usual. One of the downsides of such a heavy focus on your 6th house of health and fitness is that you may feel a little drained as you are asked to ‘give away’ much of your focus and attention to other people (and pets?!). Added to that is the fact that Saturn is in opposition to the stellium in Aries in an area of your chart that rules the whole process of letting go. Never ever easy for a true Scorpio but you are stepping into a new 29 year cycle over the next 1 ½ years and some internal cleansing needs to be done before you’re ready for that. This is not done over night and takes some reviewing and painful realisations which, of course, again, require that you focus some of your precious energy on that process. In particular if your Moon is in Scorpio, this is not the easiest of time. Meditate, pray, do some yoga or go for a swim to calm your mind.

After the lunar eclipse in April, May 2013 brings with it two further eclipses and the first one takes place on 10th May. This is a solar eclipse which occurs when the Moon stands between the Sun and Earth. For you, again, opportunities and new situations at work are coming your way as well as a focus on your current health and fitness routine.

This solar eclipse is in the nakshatra of Bharani, ruled by the Venus which, at this time, will be transiting through her own sign of Taurus. The nakshatra of Bharani has an understanding and a sixth sense for the acquisition of accrued wealth but this nakshatra also represents the person who ‘carries and bears’. For you this may mean that although new opportunities around work appear, it could at the same time result in a lot more responsibility.

Now, the 6th house also rules conflict and arguments. Saturn and the North node on one end and the South node, Mars, Venus, Moon and the Sun at the other end, forming oppositions, relationships are highlighted. Whenever there is an opposition, other people are involved and whenever the Moon is involved things get personal and emotional. You may have been quite optimistic and expansive mood when it comes to relationships over the past year but if this has caused you feeling that your existing relationship is not enough for you anymore and the cracks started to show, then the current transits coupled with the eclipses may be the beginning of the end. If not then, at the very least the flood lights may be on a certain loss of balance when it comes to your partnerships at the moment, both professional and personal. Easily done with so much going on at work but just watch out for that.

Then, the Sun, Mercury, Venus join Jupiter in your house of committed relationships and this should really be a beautiful time that makes what you’ve work on up to this point in May ‘more solid’. It’s a major time of commitment and decisions for many Scorpios as you decide whether to go ahead with an existing relationship or, if the emerging cracks are becoming too big to mend, you decide to go separate ways.

With the lunar eclipse on 25th May, there won’t be any turning back for you and as a Scorpio, once you’ve made up your mind, you don’t really change it anymore, in particular with so much focus on the fixed signs. The end of May highlights a change in your relationship status for better or for worse and if things have been going swimmingly, you might be in for a much more pleasant surprise and you can finally send those wedding invites off to the designers! If this is the case, then Jupiter’s move into your 8th house of other people’s finances right at the end of May may be a welcome sign as additional financial means may be required to pay for the big day…more on that in the June forecasts!

Have a peaceful month, Scorpio!

May 2013 horoscope - Sagittarius

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the May 2013 horoscope for birthdays from 16th December to 14th January or Sagittarius Ascendants and Moons
By Louise Gilbert

Sagittarius, as we go into May, the focus for you is still on romance and children and in particular those archers born towards the end of December and early January or with their Moon and Ascendant signs as around 17 degrees of Sagittarius may be going through some extra transformative and life-changing times at the moment. Astrologically speaking, April 2013 was already one of the more intense months of the year so far with the first of the eclipses affecting this area in our lives and with the ongoing square between Pluto and Uranus being exact at the end of April. For you, this means that you are currently have the opportunity to mix and mingle on the social scene – perhaps even after a long time of not wanting to get out there and show your face. With Saturn, the planet that limits and challenges us, in your house of friends and acquaintances, your social networks may have been going through some ‘restructuring’ let’s say and perhaps unusually so, you’ve not been in the mood to party as much as you are used to. You’ve probably been quite busy restructuring your finances and building on your success.

At the moment, however, it may feel as though you are being pushed out of the door by some invisible force and suddenly you make new connection and meet new people wherever you turn up. As the focus is on true love this month, Cupid could be knocking on your door now. This of course, is only possible once there is enough room in your life and the lunar eclipse at the end of April may have provided you with an opportunity to do eliminate some of the contacts in your life you no longer had any meaningful connection to. This may have been a little painful but for the first week in May, the stellium in Aries promises a lot of quick action and reaction, determination and hopefully progress where your love life and friendships are concerned. So, as opposed to April, May should feel more like a month of new beginnings and progress rather than sudden developments and even endings that took you by surprise.

The same goes for children. Although I try and stay away from talking about potential pregnancies in general chart forecasts (In fact, I’m always careful about that), the planets and circumstances are now there for a pregnancy to be part of these transformative experiences some Sagittarians are going through now.

All of this is leading up to the solar eclipse this month which, in addition to another lunar eclipse on 25th May, takes place on 10th May. Whatever it is, things are progressing swiftly now, especially with so many planets in Aries, intent on pushing you towards your next step. Whatever is beginning now could be phased in over a period of months and you should expect to reap the rewards of the seeds sown around the time of the next lunar eclipse in October and until February 2014 when you will reach another milestone. So, yes, a pregnancy could be part of the picture that has ‘next chapter please’ written all over it now. For those that are single, the new Moon could also bring a new relationship into your life. Even though you may still feel a little restless, as you have done for quite some time now, you may have not felt this optimistic and inspired in a while. Sagittarians are charismatic anyway but you’re almost irresistible these days. Try and not be too overpowering when it comes to lovers as well as your children.

This nakshatra also carries the meaning of more responsibility but, gosh, again, you know, if you wanted to get pregnant….

And then slowly, Mercury, Venus and Mars are moving into your 6th house of work, employment and health leading up to the lunar eclipse at the end of May. The 6th house is about our daily routines so you may become a busy bee for the rest of the month with new work projects landing on your desk or old ones that need to be completed. Perhaps a colleague leaves and you have to take on some extra work load which drains some of your energy, especially around the time of the eclipse on 25th May. A lot is now brewing underneath the surface and you may discover something or hear about something that even you didn’t know about connected to your work or you realise you need to look after your health better. You are required to look after yourself and if necessary make some small lifestyle changes that can have big consequences. If it’s not about yourself, you may have to look after a parent this month or someone else needs your help or you need to be of service to them. If you have pets, it may even have to do with them!

Although, yes, this is yet another time of completion for you, I don’t think it’ll be as intense as the lunar eclipse at the end of April but you may still feel a little overwhelmed at this point.

And then it all begins to change. After what may have been a year of you playing the role of the diplomat in a work environment filled with more than its fair share of arguments and conflict, your ruler, Jupiter, finishes up the month by moving into your house of committed relationships….stay tuned for your June horoscope!

Have a fun and stress-free month, Sagittarius!

May 2013 horoscope - Capricorn

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the Capricorn April 2013 horoscope for birthdays from 15th January to 12th February or Capricorn Ascendants and Moons

By Louise Gilbert
April 2013 may have been an unusually emotional month for you and it certainly was one of the more intense periods of the year so far with the first of the eclipses affecting us as well as the ongoing square between Pluto and Uranus being exact at the end of April. We still carry over the some of the same themes into May although the square is now waning slightly as Pluto is going retrograde until 20th September. For you Capricorn, the bulk of this energy is still concentrated around your home, your family life, your emotions and your past. A lot is going on behind the scenes and in your inner life at the moment as you contemplate where you are heading next in your life. The lunar eclipse at the end of April rings in a time of powerful change, transformation and a turning point for many Capricorns when it comes to where you put up tent, with whom and how you will fill your days once you’re there! Added to that is the feeling that something’s boiling away underneath the surface as the way you think and move through your daily life is changing.

So, during the beginning of May, you should certainly get the feeling of new beginnings and progress hovering over the horizon where your living situation as well as your career and profession is concerned. Capricorns, alongside the other cardinal signs, are undergoing some of the more fundamental changes and in your case, these two areas in your life are affected the most – in particular over the months of April and May where the first waves of the Tsunami hit your shores. For the first week in May, the stellium in Aries promises a lot of quick action and reaction, determination and hopefully progress around home and career. Although there may still be some obstacles and a lot of pushing and pulling in this area – perhaps you are still waiting for the signature on a house sale or a new job contract to finally land in your inbox - but as opposed to last month, the epiphany moment has arrived. You now know what needs to be done and what you’re dealing with rather than being faced with further, sudden developments that take you by surprise.

All of this is leading up to the solar eclipse this month which, in addition to another lunar eclipse on 25th May, takes place on 10th May and again, hits your axis of house & home and career & life direction. In your case, you may decide to put your house on the market, or refurbish it before you rent it out but in any case, things are progressing swiftly as the planets are intent on pushing you towards your next step. Although this also means that something has to end before something new can come in, the emphasis really is more on the beginning than the finish this time around – you should have already done the clearing up and finishing with the lunar eclipse at the end of April. Whatever is beginning now could be phased in over a period of months and you should expect to reap the rewards of the seeds sown around the time of the next lunar eclipse in October and until February 2014 when you will reach another milestone.

This solar eclipse is in the nakshatra of Bharani, ruled by the Venus, which will be transiting through her own sign of Taurus. The nakshatra of Bharani has an understanding and a sixth sense for the acquisition of accrued wealth but this nakshatra also represents the person who ‘carries and bears’. So, although new opportunities appear, it could at the same time result in more responsibility.

And then it’s time to have fun! You’re in a long(ish) process of getting rid of old emotional baggage and the last weeks may have presented some particular ‘highlights’ in this area. Now, your own personal spring time arrives and you’re in the mood for some fun and romance as Mercury, Venus and Jupiter are all conjunct in this area in your chart. From around mid-month onwards should really be a beautiful time and some quite ‘solid’ could be built now.

The next culmination point of your activated love life is the lunar eclipse on 25th May. Lunar eclipses are full Moons, so they bring things to an end and a conclusion and all the cards are on the table. But not only that, you can look at the like a switch, something moves from one thing to the next so if you have been looking for some time, you could now find yourself wrapped up in a new romance quite swiftly. Your friends and wider circle of acquaintances could be the key for you finding love this month. However, with Neptune, the planet of illusion, interfering momentarily, you’d do well not to jump head in first and ignore potential warning signs.

Have a romantic month, Capricorn!
