April 2013 horoscope - Aries

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the April 2013 horoscope for birthdays from 14th April to 15th May or Aries Ascendants or Moons

By Louise Gilbert
Aries, we start April with an intense last quarter Moon that comes arm in arm with Pluto in your house of learning, the higher mind, ravelling and anything that broadens your horizons. For you, I don’t feel this particular transit brings with it any major changes around the big questions you are currently pondering over. However, this Moon phase is connected to last year’s full Moon in early July so think about what happened then. It’s typically a very busy time when you finish up things from the past and this is exactly why I mention this transit for your forecast too. During these early April 2013 days, you may gain a sudden insight, understanding or a little bit more wisdom that’s been the missing piece in the puzzle of you understanding a certain connection, situation or experience. It could be kind of a breakthrough in that sense for you. Equally, if you are studying or researching a subject in-depth, this may be the time when you get to that certain point of understanding that makes you question why you did not see the obvious before. The way Aries Suns and Ascendants are thinking and therefore also communicating is changing dramatically over these years with moments of sudden insights and intuitive awareness. You are opening up to the subtleties in communication and perception and early April represents another milestone on the learning curve.

Generally speaking for the first 10 days in April, you are still in this brooding and slightly reflective mood. You are reviewing all your achievements of the past year, many of them financial if your Ascendant is in Aries, how you have managed to develop your skills whilst facing and hopefully overcoming obstacles around your most committed partnerships and the people you are closest to – perhaps also a job situation if your Sun is in Aries too. This period is your annual wind-down phase, where you brood and ponder, mediate and withdraw a little from the world for a few weeks. And then, as the picture of everything you experienced over the past 12 months crystallises and projects the newly formed and evolved You onto the screen in front of your eyes, you automatically let go of what you thought up until this point is still part of your personality and your life. The new Moon on 10th April in your house of behind the scenes and letting go will give you the impetus to do just that.

Ruled by the nakshatra of Rivati, this new Moon has very gentle qualities aimed at spiritual enlightenment and intuitive understanding of how the world works. For you, some kind of soul-searching is now in order as well as some level of emotional peace of mind and stillness. This is a sensitive position of the new Moon and comes in preparation for the full Moon in your sign later on in the month. However, just like the first quarter Moon in early April, this new Moon is in an aspect to Pluto. So although the effect and impact may still be less tangible for Aries, it can still be a very transformative time and again, one that opens your mind and understanding about what is going on in your world and in all likelihood your relationships with other people including your most committed partnerships.

And this is really what April 2013 – and in fact all of 2013 - is about for Aries. Relationships have been on your mind for a number of months now and you may be feeling some opposition and challenges connected to them. These are nothing but the result of your evolving expectations and growing sense of maturity whatever your age. If anything has been bothering you in your current relationship or you if you have been single for a while you turn into a force to be reckoned come mid-April. One by one, the Sun, Venus and Mars are moving into your first house from which point onwards your energy knows no bounds but so does your aggression, so watch out for that. Venus together with Mars once again highlights relationships but in Aries also high levels of impatience and a ‘head in first’ kind of an attitude. So, if you are single, you may well attract someone to you this month who has long-term potential but be sure to take your time. If you are coupled, then major shake-ups in your current relationship are expected to form part of the picture. These shake-ups may be mighty and with long-term consequences but I suspect not completely out of the blue and your quiet period earlier on in the month and in March would have helped you become clear about whatever is now bursting out of its shell. This does not need to be negative and can also mean that some of you get engaged – it’s simply a change in status. So, for everyone and in particular the cardinal signs – Aries, Capricorn, Cancer and Libra, April 2013 is one of the more intense months of the year especially as we are gearing up to the lunar eclipse on 25th April – one of 5 eclipses this year.

This lunar eclipse hits your relationship sector and as with all full Moons, our emotions are heightened and we react from the heart rather than the head so these times are often also marked with changes in relationships as they affect our emotional affairs. However, tied into an eclipse, it might be time of powerful change, transformation and a turning point for many under the sign of Aries. In recent years, I started paying very close attention to the eclipses am now convinced that that these times often marks endings or culmination and turning points, they are the wild cards of the transits, the bonus cards and the lottery wins. They shake us up so that we can move from one level of evolution and maturity to another, higher phase, fairly rapidly. While, occasionally, a lunar eclipse can have to do with a change in career or place of work, depending on where it falls in your chart, lunar eclipses tend to bring with them the encounters that change our lives. They bring along those monumental break-ups, make-ups or general changes in status. Whatever it may be, they often signify the point of no return when we are asked to simply move forward in our lives. These times are often major catalysts in our life that provide the fuel for huge transformations.

Events that follow an eclipse have more weight than events brought on by a normal new or full Moon packed with energy and impact. Events connected to an eclipse may feel fated – perhaps not immediately but in the months and years to come when you look back, you will realise the significance of the events of the eclipse. These times tend to bring unexpected changes of direction – if you are an Aries Ascendant at around 9-13 degrees of Aries then this eclipse will be in more or less exact opposition so connected to your relationships. If you were born at around 20th to 26th April, then this eclipse hits your Sun and is more likely to sweep in changes or shake-ups in your career or generally your lifestyle. If you Moon is on Aries, then it will affect your emotional life, where you live and perhaps with whom.

A big month for your Aries, let me know how you get on!
