August 2013 horoscope - Libra

Libra, as you head into August the ongoing stellium in Gemini is still connected to the Grand Trine in air together with Saturn and Neptune. During these times, we tend to be highly idealistic, we intellectualise situations and issues but we are also more social during this time. We formulate our ideas, develop connections and expanding our mental faculties with greater ease. All of the airy Gemini energy opposes transformative Pluto, who, in your 3^rd house of communication and the mind, has been changing the way you think and debate over the past years. With Mars, Mercury, Jupiter and the Moon travelling through Gemini, your solar 9^th house for the first few days in August, you’re in the mood to take off – quite literally. This is the time of the year where you crave a holiday and perhaps this year in particular as Saturn is still placing his heavy demands on you to be disciplined and focused and erase the unnecessary from your life. Not an easy task so August presents the perfect opportunity to have a break. If you are single, love might be knocking on the door for you on your adventures. Equally, you might meet someone if you are taking a higher education course - perhaps you’ll fall in love with your mentor or teacher! If you are coupled up, your partner may the one thinking about furthering his skills in some way, taking driving lessons or he may simply be travelling a little more this month.

With Pluto in the mix too, we now have a Kite aspect. The influence of the Kite pattern is similar to Grand Trines but where a trine is easy and we might not even notice it if we don’t pay attention, the Kite motivates and opens up potential. The vocal point of the Kite, again, is in Gemini, your 9^th house of the higher mind, wisdom, luck and philosophy. These early August days can also be a time when you start looking at things from a different perspective – to do with what it is you actually belief in, your values and connected to those also your own (self-)worth and connected to that, your finances. I don’t think this is a month for major re-evaluation but rather a time when what you’ve learnt, experienced and understood over the past six or so months, during the Saturn retrograde period, finally sinks in and you begin to accept  the newly emerging you, your transformed outlook and revised expectations. A great step forward. Your relationships and expectations connected to those are also part of this process now.

After the 5^th August, your focus shifts slightly and while it’s still holiday season, your mind may already be back at your desk, evolving around what’s happening in the office. Whether you like it or not, this is a highly visible – and potentially lucrative – month for you as Mercury changes signs on 5^th August and moves into Cancer just before the new Moon in the same sign on 6^th August. New new Moon in your house of career and life direction promises a brand new start at work and in your career, for some of you, potentially your whole life direction. Saturn is still in your sign and you’ve already had to go through some tough realisations, endings and situations of letting go, some very painful. However, over the past months, you learnt some very valuable lessons which, hopefully, made you emotionally a little stronger and prepared for what’s to come. You’ve learnt how to set boundaries and now, you want to see some results. And so you will. The new Moon at the top of your chart helps you along to initiate some important changes connected to your career, home life, which direction you want to go in next, where and perhaps also with whom. All of it is underpinned by fairly solid finances.

Whatever it is you will be initiating, things could generally move quite quickly now with Uranus in trine to the new Moon.

This new Moon is in the nakshatra of Aszlesa, ruled by Mercury. It’s the intimate connection and embrace. It’s where we find emotional strength to defeat your enemies. It’s also a time when we are emotionally needier than at others times and with Mercury, the ruler of this nakshatra in the same sign of Cancer, you or others in life may speak before they think and react to events more emotionally and even harshly with Saturn’s eye on this new Moon. If can, take a step back.

Around the time o the full Moon in Aquarius on 21^st August you’re in a much more dreamy mood, you mind tends to drift off once in a while and you may want to withdraw a little bit. This full Moon is conjunct Neptune and takes place in your 5^th house of fun, creativity, romance and children. All of these are now part of what’s happening next. So, again, if you are single, then you might meet someone special around this time or, equally, a pregnancy could be on the cards – after all, the ruler of this house, Saturn, is currently exalted and going moving over your Ascendant. This is often an indication of a pregnancy. However, your children, if you have any could also be a lot more demanding at this time. Think about what began around 21^st February 2012 and you’ll get the idea.

The month ends with all planets, not counting Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, spreading out across six subsequent houses. Vedic astrology calls this a Kal Sarp Yoga when all the planets are hemmed between Rahu and Ketu or the Moon’s nodes. With this combination, there is a rather deep and complex compulsion across the axis of the nodes – Aries and Libra, the relationship axis. The end of August seems to be a time where we do a lot of subconscious processing of the past, we’re more withdrawn as we work on unresolved emotions. Across the Aries and Libra axis, there is a lot of growing beyond unhealthy relationship patterns and how we communicate in relationships. For you Libra, a lot of this also has to do with your approach to partners and partnerships – are you ready?
