Physically competitive 

Mars in the first house feels quite comfortable – in most signs anyway. It gives the person with this placement a lot of physical energy, vitality and a certain youthfulness that throughout life doesn’t seem to fade unless Saturn has a hold on the first house. This is generally speaking a great placement for all competitive activities such as athletic sports and hunting, any physical exercise such as hikes and climbs.

Mars releases a lot of heat in the house he occupies and this placement releases a big push of outgoing movement. Mars also needs independence, so someone with this placement feels most comfortable with a lot space to move around them. Because this is quite a competitive and somewhat aggressive placement for Mars, it’s an easier one to handle for men rather than women – or perhaps simply more acceptable character traits.
