April 2014 horoscope - Cancer

I follow the Vedic calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16^th July to 15^th August or Cancer Ascendants and Moons

Cancer, your travel plans have been a top priority, concern and matter of great importance as have educational, religious or spiritual matters. Similar to the other cardinal signs (Aries, Libra and Capricorn), the area of your chart to do with foreign and short-distance travels, self-owned business, your beliefs and the way you communicate, writing, publishing, academic studies, different cultures, working with your hands and sorting out your health and the way you go about our daily business is changing, transforming, being reviewed and restructured. This has been ongoing for a while and things in these areas will certainly heat up again in April. There are of course a number of possibilities as to how this will all play out but what I want to focus on this month for you is a different part of life that comes under the spotlight from the eclipses and includes your ruler, the Moon, and the house ruled by the Moon, the 4^th. So it’s kind of doubly relevant for you…

 

The area of life that I feel will take up a good part of your thoughts and focus this month is the 4^th house which indicates spiritual, mental, social, emotional, and physical security. It’s the part that has to do with your intuitive sense of belonging to a people and a place. You may be thinking about where you belong and how to increase your sense of security. Perhaps you are planning to move or you have to move, so questions around where you want to live and how are coming up for you.  For some of you there are changes in the childhood home, perhaps your parents are moving house or selling the one they have been in for decades and you are asked to sort out their estate and affairs. For some time, there has been a disruptive influence on all of the above causing you to feel ‘unsafe’ or on shaky ground.

 

Think about what happened around October 2012 and then again around mid-July 2013 – it’s moving into its final stages with the lunar and the solar eclipses taking place this month. Eclipses are tied to changing circumstances which over the past 18 months, and most likely more, have become necessary for your growth. The first eclipse on 15^th April 2014 is a lunar eclipse in the area of your chart to with your home environment and your sense of safety. Perhaps you’ve wanted to buy or sell you property – any processes around that are progressing. Perhaps a job situation requires you to move home - now you have confirmation of that. 

 

More generally speaking but this can certainly also be the case for you, lunar eclipses are relationship-oriented and a time when we suddenly realise a great need or want. The impact can bring certain relationships to an end but it can also have the opposite effect. Some couples realise they can’t live without each other. Eclipses usually entail a change in status, so a break in the path, a milestone and a tipping point. This is the last one in the series of eclipses across the Libra and Aries axis so some of the same issues of the past year may crop up again, especially those that have continued to fester underneath the surface. 

 

The solar eclipse on 28^th April 2014 is then a new beginning, a new cycle and a break from the old path. While you may not know exactly what the new path looks and feels like - the Sun that gives light and insight, the Moon blocks the light of the Sun temporarily – a new spiral of personal development is set into motion. A lot of what is happening at this time has to do with your career, income and your general ‘status’ in life and, most likely to a lesser extent, your immediate family. You may reinvent yourself now through your career or profession, look into a new career path, perhaps abroad, and you may start applying for a number of positions. Some of you may also have to make some sort of an announcement, publish something and generally be quite involved in planning, scheduling and touring, holding meetings, sessions, trainings and other admin bits at work. 

 

April is an intense but ‘progressive’ month. Again, a lot is shifting for you, moving forward and coming to the surface. While something has to give, something else will come into your life instead…Have a great month, Cancer!
