October 2014 horoscope - Cancer

I follow the Vedic calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th July to 15th August or Cancer Ascendants and Moons

The big news of course is the lunar eclipse on 8th October in Pisces and the area of your chart to do with traveling, higher learning and in Vedic astrology, this is also the area of your chart to do with marriage. This is important because your ruler, the Moon, is involved in the eclipse. Generally speaking, lunar eclipses are very potent full Moons and because of the opposition of the Sun and Moon, are relationship-oriented. The full Moon brings things to light and with an eclipse, may involve some sort of a crisis. It's a time when a need or want becomes so intense, you can't ignore it. This can come from within yourself or from external sources - most likely a partner. If you are single, then the gap in your life due to a lack of a relationship, makes it presence felt - if a partnership is indeed what you want. Uranus is involved in the eclipse, so things you've been feeling, thoughts you've had come bubbling up to the surface. Thoughts and feelings that you've started to be aware of at the turn of the year and throughout January 2014 and something to do with education, publishing and as I said, your marriage, that began in April 2013 is moving on to the next stage. Something that was initiated then is being competed – an exam, an essay, a book, a trip you’ve been planning for a long time or something connected to your marriage.

This cycle is in the naksahtra of Revati, ruled by Mercury. Some of the meanings of Revati are the Shining One, the Protector of Herds and Wealth and the one descended from a wealthy family. So, Revati is a Shining Light who shows the Path to others. Although part of the eclipse, this full Moon is considered a rather lucky one where we are able to move freely from one mental engagement to the next. This seems good news for exams, serious conversations, legal agreements and contracts. The only stumbling block is Mercury going backwards in the sky from 5th  to 25th October 2014. While Mercury in Virgo makes sure you ask the right questions, you may have to go back to the drawing board on a couple of things.

The new Moon on 23rd October in the area of your chart to do with house and home really is a wave goodbye to Saturn. Saturn leaves this area of your chart next month not to return for another 29 - 30 years and what a relief this seems to be for you. You have done a lot of work emotionally and for some of you things at home changed a lot. The new Moon here is a new beginning and with your own ruler involved, an important one that will make its presence felt for some time and with long-reaching consequences. Connected to this cycle are also themes of money and relationships, so some of you – in a month that sees a lunar eclipse affecting your marriage – could enter legal and binding contracts to do with finances and your home. Sounds exciting! Have a great month, Cancer!

October 2014 horoscope - Leo

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th August to 15th September or Leo Ascendants and Moons

Leo, you want to understand where you are when it comes to money this month. You’ve had to invest so much effort when it comes to earning a living over the past years and you’ve gone through a steep learning curve, now you want to see the results and get some clarity. Much of it also has to do with your partner’s money, loans, mortgages and inheritance. Family money and generally speaking family matters and getting those in order, filed and put away are the things that occupy your time now. If you are dealing with relationship matters and joint finances then you may find yourself getting a bit hot under the collar now with Mars, the planet of aggression in your home zone. At the same time, Mars energises this area in life and if your finances have anything to do with your home life, then things could develop quite suddenly. After, there is a lunar eclipse on 8th October in Pisces and the area of your chart to do with joint finances.

Thoughts and feelings that you've started to be aware of at the turn of the year and throughout January 2014. So, yes, money could be part of all that but also, intimacy along with some sort of a cleansing and healing experience. Something is eclipsed out of your life but ultimately, this could feel like a relief rather than a burden or a challenge.

On its own, this is good news as this allows you to ask the right questions when it comes to a joint future. Some of you may even go on a holiday of a lifetime that changes how you feel about certain things. Avoid becoming anxious about the future and with Mercury going backwards in the sky from 5th to 25th October 2014 this might temporarily be easier said than done.

The new Moon on 23rd October in the area of your chart to do with short-distance travels, your own efforts, ideas and hobbies, new learning and skills training really is a wave goodbye to Saturn. Saturn leaves this area of your chart next month not to return for another 29 - 30 years after more than two years there. It’s a new beginning and one that could involve a lot of paper work, phone calls and emails. Some could be connected to what happened earlier in the month to do with money and your home life but the new beginning could also have to do with your relationships. If your are single, you may now want to join a new club, meet new people and even entertain the idea of online dating. Good luck! Have a great month, Leo.

October 2014 horoscope - Virgo

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th September to 15th October or Virgo Ascendants and Moons

Virgo, for a little while now, it has been all about your relationships now as well as the status of those - whether single or coupled up.  The big news of course is that the eclipse cycle hits your sign hard this month with the lunar eclipse on 8th October in Pisces and the area of your chart to do with partnerships. This is all about sudden and somewhat but probably not altogether unexpected eruptions and changes. Lunar eclipses are very potent full Moons and because of the opposition of the Sun and Moon, are relationship-oriented. Thoughts and feelings that you've started to be aware of at the turn of the year and throughout January 2014. If you are single, then this eclipse is likely to be more positive than if you are coupled up as it means something is eclipsed out of your life. What began in April 2013 to do with relationships? Someone may have entered your life and you are now keen to take it to the next level or you have come out of a relationship then and you are now ready to enter a new one. In any case, it’s all about a change of status!

This cycle is in the naksahtra of Revati, ruled by Mercury which is also your ruler. But there is a stumbling block and this is Mercury going backwards in the sky from 5th to 25th October 2014. Mercury makes sure you ask the right questions when it comes to your career and goals as you work towards meeting those. This of course also stretches to your relationships – ask the questions you need to ask but in all areas, you may have to go over old ground and sieve through the misunderstandings before you get to the bottom of it all.

The new Moon on 23rd October in the area of your chart to do with your finances really is a wave goodbye to Saturn. Saturn leaves this area of your chart next month not to return for another 29 - 30 years and the pressure on money eases. In fact, you may only realise now what a nice little financial cushion you managed to get together over these past couple of years. Have a great month, Virgo!

October 2014 horoscope - Libra

I follow the Vedic calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th October to 15th November or Libra Ascendants and Moons

Libra, at the beginning of the month, you are either physically not present and hopefully on holiday, or your mind is elsewhere and more often than not, you are daydreaming. Your ruler, Venus, is in the sign before yours, so you are in your annual recuperation and preparation phase but this just means, you want to withdraw a little and be less ‘present’ than usual. Perhaps you are planning a trip, working on a research project or you are thinking more about what it is you actually believe in. Your intuition is high at the moment, so listen to what your inner voice and what your dreams are telling you.

The big news of course is that the lunar eclipse on 8th October in Pisces hits this area of your chart to do with intuition, foreign countries and some sort of preparation work. Much of it, however, has to do with work and career as well as profits and gains on the one hand and your health and stress levels on the other. Both can of course be interlinked as you go through deals and negotiations at work. Towards the end of October, the spotlight is on you and whereas at the beginning of the month, you felt like daydreaming and letting the days drift by, you are now a little more determined – but of course still your charming self. And this is very attractive to other – a huge bonus if you are single. For those happily coupled up, it’s a time when your partner is reminded of exactly what he has in you and the best thing of all, he shows it too.

Thoughts and feelings that you've started to be aware of at the turn of the year and throughout January 2014.

Mercury going backwards in the sky from 5th to 25th October 2014 and although Mercury makes sure you understand your feelings, listen to your emotions and your intuition and although there may be a few pieces of misinformation to deal with and travel plans to be rearranged.

The new Moon on 23rd October in your own sign for me really is the highlight of the month for you. It’s a wave goodbye to Saturn as he is about to leave your sign next month not to return for another 29 - 30 years. What a relief Libra, you’ve really done the hard work now and watch your energy levels rise again over the coming months. A much lighter mood returns as you deal with situations with more maturity now and an ability to stand your ground, for what you belief in and what is acceptable to you in general and in relationships. This is really is a special  birthday month this year! Have a great one Libra!

October 2014 horoscope - Scorpio

I follow the sidereal/Vedic calendar; this is the October 2014 horoscope for birthdays from 16th November to 15th December or Scorpio Ascendants and Moons

Scorpio, Mars is in your own sign, turning on your sex appeal and making sure everyone, and I mean everyone gets a taste of your assertive nature. This can be a busy and even stressful time for you when you are so much in demand, when your physical presence is required! In any case, it’s an energetic time and with Jupiter in a good angle to your sign these days, it’s also an optimistic time and expansive time. For single Scorpios, this is great time to make connections and let (a lot of) romance into your life. Especially as the eclipse cycle hits your romance sector this month.

The lunar eclipse on 8th October in Pisces and the area of your chart to do with true love, romance, children and fun and brings things to light here. Lunar eclipses are very potent full Moons and because of the opposition of the Sun and Moon, are relationship-oriented. Thoughts and feelings that you've started to be aware of at the turn of the year and throughout January 2014. In your case, again, it has to do with children, creativity and self-expression but also any speculative ventures that require a certain amount of risk. For some Scorpios, this lunar eclipse also brings some sudden changes into your work life but more on the positive side with an award, an accolade or a promotion coming your way. Although Mercury going backwards in the sky from 5th to 25th October 2014 and discussions about promotions, announcements and long-term projects require some going back and forth, it’ll be a somewhat frustrating but necessary exercise. You’ll be going over old ground until the end of October but at the same time, you’ll discover aspects you hadn’t noticed before. With Uranus in opposition, these new bits of information and detail could spring out of the ground quite suddenly – these ‘bits of information’ are around groups of friends, projects, group involvements, joint finances, profits and for some, discussions about family money with mostly older siblings.

This cycle is in the naksahtra of Revati, ruled by Mercury. Some of the meanings of Revati are the Shining One, the Protector of Herds and Wealth and the one descended from a wealthy family. So, Revati is a Shining Light who shows the Path to others. Although part of the eclipse, this full Moon is considered a rather lucky one where we are able to move freely from one mental engagement to the next, like a monkey with long agile arms swinging from one tree branch to the next. This is particularly good for all creative things you want to build, work on, produce and handle, put down on paper or even dream about.

The new Moon on 23rd October in the area of your chart to do with intuition, dreams and working behind the scenes really is a wave goodbye to Saturn and in your case also a final realisation or a final letting go. Over the past two and half years, you had to learn to let go of something, someone or certain behaviour patterns but the realisation only crept up on your slowly. Saturn leaves this area of your chart next month not to return for another 29 - 30 years and will leave you with just this realisation of what it is you need to change about yourself, your attitude and expectations – this will be your job for the next two and a half years from next month onwards impacting your relationships, yourself and your home life. As unwelcome as it sounds, it’ll be a necessary experience and ultimately rewarding process. Have a great month, Scorpio!

October 2014 horoscope - Sagittarius

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the October 2014 horoscope for birthdays from 16th December to 14th January or Sagittarius Ascendants and Moons

Sagittarius, with you ruler, Jupiter, in the area of your chart to do with other people’s money, secrets, inheritance and rebirth, it’s certainly is a somewhat transformative period for you. Although your money situation doesn’t look bad and you may be in for some extra cash this month, there is something going on underneath the surface that changes your outlook on life, maybe even your status in the world and how you, generally, feel about what’s happening in your world. All of which may take a little while to get used to. The big news of course is that the eclipse cycle hits your 4th house this month with the lunar eclipse on 8th October in Pisces. This area of your chart has to do with your inner feelings, emotions, the past, your mother and your home.  This eclipse heralds some sudden changes in this area, somewhat unexpected or with a bit of twist although not entirely unforeseen. The lunar eclipse squares intense Pluto in your sign, so for some, the changes at home and in connection with other people’s money could be enormous. For some Sagittarians, the process and emotional upheaval is more internal followed by a sense of rebirth.

Thoughts and feelings that you've started to be aware of at the turn of the year and throughout January 2014.

Although clear thought and a witty mind are always an advantage, Mercury is going backwards in the sky from 5th to 25th October 2014. This means Mercury makes sure you ask the right questions when it comes to your career and your professional path but also your relationships and you may have to go over things you already went through over the past weeks.

The new Moon on 23rd October in the area of your chart to do with profits and, again, money as well as friends and group involvements really is a wave goodbye to Saturn. Saturn leaves this area of your chart next month not to return for another 29 - 30 years. While many friends or people you used to spend your time with have left your life over these past two and a half years, you have worked or repaired your reputation, financial position and build a more solid group of friends and acquaintances. This area of your chart now experiences a brand new beginning, perhaps with an award or an accolade to start with and a bonus to follow on! Have a great month, Sagittarius!

October 2014 horoscope - Capricorn

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the Capricorn October 2014 horoscope for birthdays from 15th January to 12th February or Capricorn Ascendants and Moons

Hi Capricorn, similar to the Aquarius forecast, I will talk about the focus on your 9th house not in the sense of travelling, education, teaching and philosophy, although this area is beginning to take increasing amounts of mental focus over the next months; instead, it’s about your marriage. Your status, career and social position has come under scrutiny but now, it’s your marriage and serious relationships that are under the spotlight. The eclipse cycle this month will already introduce some change here with the lunar eclipse on 8th October. Lunar eclipses are very potent full Moons and because of the opposition of the Sun and Moon, are relationship-oriented. Thoughts and feelings that you've started to be aware of at the turn of the year and throughout January 2014. So in your case, it is about partnerships but also news about your marriage, paperwork that needs to be completed and joint finances to be sorted out. This whole transit and the eclipse cycle across this area of your chart also seem to carry a legal aspect with it – perhaps the law has to get involved in your paper work too. As Mercury will be going backwards in the sky from 5th to 25th October 2014, you will be able to make sure you ask the right questions when it comes to paper work, applications, divorce documents and other legal admin. But Mercury in this area of your chart also makes you more focused, allowing you to think more clearly and discuss your marriage matters close to your heart.

The new Moon on 23rd October in the area of your chart to do with your career and reputation really is a wave goodbye to Saturn. Saturn, your ruler, leaves this area of your chart next month not to return for another 29 - 30 years. Saturn moves into the area of your chart to do with friends, profits, bonuses, older siblings and your hopes and wishes. While Saturn here restricts and tests as he always does, he feels more comfortable in this position in relation to your sign. This is a position where you reap some of the rewards of the past years of hard work and supported by Jupiter in your relationship sector, it could be a special Other, who will be of great support to you. Have a great month, Capricorn!

October 2014 horoscope - Aquarius

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the October 2014 astrology forecast for birthdays from 13th February to 14th March or Aquarius Ascendants and Moons

Aquarius, I thought, I'd try and talk about something new for your chart this month and I know, you out of all the signs might appreciate that. Over the past two years, I looked at your chart and with Saturn in the 9th house, many of you will have undertaken a course, learned something new, studied and revised your belief system. That's what I focused on but what about your marriage? I never discussed this in great detail but in Vedic astrology, this area of your chart got hammered over these past two years with the previous eclipse cycle and with Saturn here , forcing you to work on your marriage. Perhaps some of you are or were involved in legal battle or faced some other hardship in this area. It would not have been an easy task of course but luckily, this is now coming to an end. Connected to what's going on in your marriage - as well as education, new and higher learning and your belief system - are your finances. If you are having to deal with a legal situation and money needs to be discussed, then the lunar eclipse on 8th October will shed some light on the matter at hand. Lunar eclipses are very potent full Moons and because of the opposition of the Sun and Moon, are relationship-oriented. The full Moon brings things to light and with an eclipse, may involve some sort of a crisis. It's a time when a need or want becomes so intense, you can't ignore it. This can come from within yourself or from external sources - most likely a partner. If you are single, then perhaps the gap in your life due to a lack of a relationship, makes it presence felt - if a partnership is indeed what you want. Uranus is involved in the eclipse, so things you've been feeling and thoughts you've had come bubbling up to the surface. It's about thoughts and feelings that you've started to be aware of at the turn of the year and throughout January 2014. In your case, the eclipse cycle for the next 18 months hits your finances and your income, very quickly changing the status quo. Added to that is Mercury going backwards in the sky from 5th to 25th October 2014. Mercury makes sure you ask the right questions when it comes to money, mortgage applications, inheritance, tax matters and investments. Mercury is also the deal-maker, so financial deals, including those part of personal and professional partnerships are reviewed and revisited. While all of this can surely shake your foundations to some extent, it can be a cleansing exercise too.

The new Moon on 23rd October in the area of your chart to do with legal matters, marriage, travels and higher education is a new beginning for sure but really, it is a wave goodbye to Saturn. Saturn leaves this area of your chart next month not to return for another 29 - 30 years. Lessons in marriage, working towards a higher or further education or planning the trip of a lifetime / returning from it are activities that all bearing fruits now. Especially, your relationship and your marriage are not feeling the same amount of pressure anymore but one last push is what's needed. Have a great month, Aquarius!

October 2014 horoscope - Pisces

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the October 2014 horoscope for birthdays from 15th March to 13th April or Pisces Ascendants and Moons

Pisces, for so many years, your focus was on your finances, your partner's resources and, generally, other people's money as well as matters of intimacy and your deeper psychological workings. Some may have been more fearful of the future, faced their anxieties which in turn had an impact on your career. For some this was a healing process both for yourself as well as in terms of the work you do in the world, which may have changed completely over these past two years. Hopefully, you will have been able to let old hurts from the past go for good. Because, now that Saturn is finishing up his cycle in this area of live, he leaves with a gift. A slid sound and deep understanding of who you are coupled with a great sense of what intimacy means for you and what you value in a relationship and in a friendship. Some of your friends may not be same as they were a couple of years ago, nor are they as numerous. At the same time, you are now finishing up a cycle of getting your finances on order, putting you on firmer and sounder financial foundation for the future.

The big news of course is that the eclipse cycle hits your sign hard this month with the lunar eclipse on 8th October in your own sign. If you are single, then the gap in your life due to a lack of a relationship, makes it presence felt - if a partnership is indeed what you want. Uranus is involved in the eclipse, so things you've been feeling, thoughts you've had come bubbling up to the surface. Thoughts and feelings that you've started to be aware of at the turn of the year and throughout January 2014. In your case, not only are relationships highlighted but also all 5th house matters - romance, fun, children, creativity, self-expression and how to be yourself become important factors to you as well as the health and state of your relationships. For single Pisceans, this is great news; your ruler, Jupiter, is still travelling through this area in your chart so romance and children will be on the agenda. Although some stumbling blocks and question marks need to be ironed out and answered, your mind and what you focus on to a great deal in early October 2014 will be just that. One of those stumbling blocks is Mercury going backwards in the sky from 5th to 25th October 2014. Mercury makes sure you ask the right questions when it comes to contracts as well as partnerships and it's a chance to get to the bottom of things and reveal the answers and facts you need in order to move forward. For some Pisceans, it may mean opening a big can of worms that'll take several months to untangle and sieve through, for others, it's about relationship matters that are coming to quick and sharp turning point.

The new Moon on 23rd October in the area of your chart to do with inheritance, other people's money and intimacy really is a wave goodbye to Saturn. Saturn leaves this area of your chart next month not to return for another 29 - 30 years. So, not only is it a new start to do with finances but to a large degree also intimacy, children, paying off 'karmic debt' and potentially health matters, it so beautifully finishes up this Saturn - and eclipse - cycle that thought you so many lessons in these areas over the past two and a half years. Have a great month, Pisces!

Annual solar horoscope 2014 / 2015 - Virgo

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the annual solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th September to 15th October or Virgo Ascendants and Moons

Happy birthday Virgo! What an interesting year you have ahead of you! The North node / Rahu accentuates your own sign and your solar first house all year which means that you in particular will be hit by the eclipse cycle. This means that your relationships in particular are affected as you go through your own and long-overdue transformation. Perhaps you have lost a bit of confidence over the past years as Saturn was in your sign and then in your second house of values, family and money. Especially if your Moon is in Virgo, this may have been the case. Now, you are ready to break out of these self-erected barriers and you turn into this vibrant thing that finally wants to be recognised for you intellect, your ability to keep everyone on the straight and narrow and for all the hard work you’ve put in over the past few years. You want to be recognised for your attention to detail, your ability to be a team player, a crafter – either mentally or literally with your hands - and your communication skills. Over the next year and more, you may be called upon to the spokesperson, the on that speak on behalf of others – knowing that it’s you who is likely to benefit the most from it. As you concentrate on this significant period of self-development, your relationships on the other side of the spectrum are likely to feel the effect of this too. Either relationships are just not what you’re after at this moment in time or you require a significant amount of freedom now to pursue your interests, hobbies and pour a good deal of your energy into a social cause, networking and making new friends. Perhaps this new circle of friends has a lot to do with your evolving personality as you surround yourself with like-minded people. Depending on where your ruler, Mercury, is in your chart, you’ll go through the biggest transformation.

Now conversely but hopefully you’ll eventually see the light, Saturn is moving into your 3rd house in November and the area of your chart to do with communication, siblings, your own courage and self-made wealth, team working and co-workers and crucially, the way you think. On an external level, this transit requires you to be precise about the way you communicate, clearly structure your meetings, plan ahead and, again, carry the ‘burden’ of being the one making the announcements, work on a further education course that take it all out of you, finish a dissertation, research a topic, and keep your admin in place. All very well and you’re good at that anyway but this will be a learning curve will really require you to avoid negative thinking and putting yourself down. You may feel like team work and team meetings are tedious and at times, you may feel as though your opinion doesn’t count. But this is you on the bad days, Rahu in your own sign and Jupiter in the area of friends and networking will be there to make sure you can’t be overlooked now! And the other plus is, of course, that the pressure on your finances eases – now it’s time to hone your skills and abilities and make your mark in the world with or without the support or input of your partner. This really is YOUR time. The most important lightning strike-type periods for that are October 2014, March, April and September 2015.

But a word on Jupiter who will be so supportive of your efforts this solar year and ensures you’ll also profit financially, at least until mid-July 2015. Jupiter is exalted in the sign of Cancer (using the sidereal calendar – if you are used to Western astrology, Jupiter is in Leo) and makes sure you feel at home among your friends who are also of great support to you. As mentioned before, you’ll develop of vibrant personality this year and Jupiter ensure you are invited to all the important parties where you mingle with those that know or matter. Well done you! These connections either inspire you to develop your own little business idea or you get involved in a new hobby or a new cause you wholeheartedly embrace. In any case, if Saturn makes you a little moody this year, Jupiter ensures you have enough confidence in you reaching your goals whether these are financial or personal. As most likely, these also involve relationships, Jupiter comes to the rescue again smoothing over tensions and the critical moments in the year where you or your partner may question your commitment to each other. For those who are looking, it’s a more level playing field! Enjoy!
