January 2014 horoscope - Capricorn

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the Capricorn January 2014 horoscope for birthdays from 15th January to 12th February or Capricorn Ascendants and Moons

Capricorn, as the New Year begins, you may have the impression that it’s a pretty quiet start to 2014. Not much is moving at work at the moment, you may be waiting for budgets to be signed off, plans need to be reviewed or others have taken a longer vacation than you. Therefore, you’ll be more inclined to go within, be by yourself a bit more and shut yourself off from the world. You need to be alone now to regain some of your energy and get ready to rumble come mid-January.

And so the New Year begins in a timely manner with a new Moon in the sign just before yours on 1st January. This new Moon in your house of letting go, intuition and foreign places always happens at around this time of the year. This year however, Pluto in this area of your chart squaring up to Uranus, the planet of sudden changes, makes for a strong undercurrent. Like the other cardinal signs, your task is to become more flexible, change or rather ‘progress’ the way you think and let go of old habits. This doesn’t happen overnight but in stages. The new Moon in Sagittarius is yet another stage in your development to get rid of your outdated thought patterns and subconscious expectations. So, this is a time of some sort of retreat either physically or just mentally – you may be on holiday, travelling with work or you may (mentally) seem a little absent to those around, or both! This new Moon is in the nakshatra of Purva Ashadha, The Invincible Star. It is ruled by Venus and is quite a high-achieving nakshatra. It signifies the ability to convince others, generate wealth and think quickly on one’s feet. The only downside is that we may adopt a know-it-all, preaching attitude, especially with Pluto and Mercury in Sagittarius, the sign of the preacher.

Although two planets are retrograde this month, Jupiter and Venus, there are nevertheless a number of bursts of activity taking place in everyone’s chart with not just one new Moon but two the other one taking place on 31st January 2014. Both time periods introduce new beginnings in two different areas while the full Moon on 16th January brings an 18-month cycle to an end.

So, Venus is retrograde for the whole of January 2014 and Jupiter, the planet of expansion, until mid-March. During retrograde periods, the planets are said to become stronger and the areas touched by the two planets are coming into even more focus. The reason for this is that during a retrograde period, we have to repeat things, gain a new perspective, re-do, adjust and modify. We have to go through the same exercise a couple of times before we can move on but when the results then materialise, expect them to be solid – by the time the planets move forward again and cross the degree on which they went retrograde, you will have had enough time to make the right choice and think about the right decision. Hence, you’ll be able to choose the right path to move forward….In any case, for you, this has to with your day to day work, your career and perhaps, you re-building your life which has seen some major changes (and hopefully also progress) this year.

But it’s not all about work for you this month as the full Moon on 16th January is in Cancer and in your area to do with relationships. Whatever began in July 2012 is coming to a close. This can include a situation with your partner that you weren’t happy with, a living situation that wasn’t ideal, your partner’s financial situation that wasn’t too helpful or a business partnership that needed smoothening out. If you are single, the chances to meet someone new are a lot better from the summer but nevertheless, this is a time of heightened sensitivity around the subject and some of you may make that extra little bit of effort to but themselves in the right place at the right time…this might not be a bad idea, as, come February, you’ll feel a lot more attractive and outgoing than you do for the most part of January. The second new Moon on 31st January 2014 is then the perfect time to re-emerge from hibernation and your spiritual retreat. It’s in your own sign and your personal new beginning and one that especially impacts and benefits your relationships. Have a great month, Capricorn!
