January 2014 horoscope - Virgo

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16^th September to 15^th October or Virgo Ascendants and Moons

Virgo, your home is your castle this month – at least for the first half – as you are firmly focused on what’s happening in and around the house. Some of you may still be enjoying some quality time with family even after the holiday season has finished or you are now dealing with certain changes going on in this area on your life. Some of the things that seem to stand out involves things like property purchases, remortgages or home sales. Mars in your own sign aspecting the area on your chart to do with your home – amongst others – while Mercury, your ruler and the planet of communication and commerce, transits the same part of your chart. So, if you have been looking for new place to live or are thinking of selling up then early January provides excellent opportunities for you to get going and start putting things into place. The new Moon – on of two this month! – on 1^st January falls into exactly this area in your chart as you are keen to see things around your home fall into place. This will not only reinforce your sense of security in the months to come but you feel as though the foundations of your life are becoming a little more solid again. Much of this sense of security may have eroded over the past months, however, you sorting out your living situation also means your emotional life benefits from this potential spring clean. Virgos that dutifully followed Saturn’s lessons and started a savings plan may now be able to put this to good use and spend it, for example, on property projects. Some Virgo may also decide to work from home or make home-related projects a priority.

This new Moon is in the nakshatra of Purva Ashadha, The Invincible Star. It is ruled by Venus and is quite a high-achieving nakshatra. It signifies the ability to convince others, generate wealth and think quickly on one’s feet. The only downside is that we may adopt a know-it-all, preaching attitude, especially with Pluto and Mercury in Sagittarius, the sign of the preacher.

Two planets are retrograde this month, Jupiter and Venus. Venus is retrograde for the whole of January 2014 and Jupiter, the ruler of the area to do with your relationships AND your home until mid-March. During retrograde periods, the planets are said to become stronger and the areas touched by the two planets are coming into even more focus. The reason for this is that during a retrograde period, we have to repeat things, gain a new perspective, re-do, adjust and modify. We have to go through the same exercise a couple of times before we can move on but when the results then materialise, expect them to be solid – by the time the planets move forward again and cross the degree on which they went retrograde, you will have had enough time to make the right choice and think about the right decision. Hence, you’ll be able to choose the right path to move forward…In any case, AGAIN, from what I can tell, a lot of what‘s happening in the first half of the month at least, related to house and home and you trying to figure out your next steps. For some Virgos, these early-January 2014 transits can also have to do with your parents’ home and you helping to solve important matters.

After mid-month, the planets are shifting and your mind is more on having a bit of fun, romance and the focus is on your children or other ‘creations’, potentially of the literary sort. This can mean you’re coming out of a more inward looking period and you’re spending more time with your friends and acquaintances – especially around the time of the full Moon on 16^th January is in Cancer in the area of your chart to do with friends, acquaintances, business contacts and bonuses. This can be a busy, social time with parties to attend and if they are work-related, you’re able to make some new contacts, perhaps via a long-term project that lands on your desk. The second new Moon on 31^st January 2014 falls into your house of romance, fun and children, giving your romantic life a kick-start…if you are looking, then make use the energies of the second half of the month, the chances to get introduced to a few new people are looking good, which also increases your chances of meeting a potential match. Have a great month, Virgo!
