Saturn in the signs - Scorpio

Fear of Intimacy
Goddess Tarot by Kris Waldherr
Saturn in the emotional sign of Scorpio realises over and over again that he is emotionally dependent on other people. Out of fear of being hurt, this Saturn prefers to keep his emotions to himself and in extreme cases build a barrier around him to protect his feelings. There may be a resistance to getting close to other people although it’s clear that this Saturn is quite an emotional one. This can even stretch to Saturn in Scorpio wanting to put barriers and limitations around physical needs, enjoyment and pleasures.

In traditional astrology, Scorpio is ruled by Mars, the planet of pioneering endeavors and constant forward movement. However, Saturn likes clear structures that always remain in place and with that comes a fear and a deeply-felt resistance to the constant change and transformation Mars imposes – in particular in connection with the sign of Scorpio.

Saturn in Scorpio can also have highly controlling qualities, however, there can also be marked endurance in people with this placement. This can also result in someone who insists on his point of view - giving in is equal to defeat with Saturn in this sign.

It may sound heavy-going for some but Saturn in Scorpio may do well out of a psychotherapy treatment to understand his fear of intimacy, resistance to change and the need to control.

February 2013 horoscope - Aries

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 14th April to 15th May or Aries Ascendants or Moons

By Louise Gilbert
Aries, without wanting to mention the ongoing, long-term transits in every monthly forecast, it’s still important to remember that there are certain areas in your chart that are going through some changes at the moment and for the foreseeable future. Pluto in your house of travel and your higher mind in an ongoing aspect to Uranus in your house of the unconscious helps you to change the way you think, provides sudden insights and ideas that seem to come from nowhere to make sure you keep moving forward. And Aries, we know how you hate standing still! But what I’m really trying to get at is that during the past few months, as so many planets gathered in your house of travels and broadening your mind and then in your house of life direction and profession during November and December, you may have simply opened up again a little bit. It kind of seems that you have regained some of your optimism that seems to have been lost over the past year as Saturn started opposing your sign. This is a tricky placement, especially if you have your Moon in Aries (remember that I follow the sideareal calendar, get in touch or have a read here to see what that means). So, while you may have to deal with opposing energies, situations and people over the coming two years to help you sort out the way you commit and behave in relationships and what you expect from them, it seems as though you’re getting a break from all this in February 2013.

When I look at your chart for the month, so many planets are in the South Eastern hemisphere in your chart which give you back your va va voom. This month and next, Pluto, Venus, Mercury, Mars, the Sun, Uranus, Neptune and the Moon for a few days each month, are travelling through this area in your chart, making you more extroverted, sociable, and concerned with events on the outside rather than what’s going on in your inner life. You are (even) more self-motivated, pioneering and you want to get things going.  This relates to your goals and your dreams as well as your career. Especially in the first half of the month, you are thinking about your career and whether what you’re doing still fits in with your changing beliefs and outlook. Perhaps it’s someone in your circle of friends who provides the necessary push you have needed to rethink certain aspects of your job and where you’re heading in life in general. If, on the other hand, you are quite happy where you are, then this may be a time where you receive the recognition you’ve been working towards which actually makes you appreciate where you’re at even more. Transits don’t always bring with them a drastic change but certainly a focus on a specific area in life.

The new Moon on 10th February in Capricorn also impacts your solar 10th house of life direction and career and heralds new beginnings. In Indian astrology, this new Moon which falls into in the nakshatra (one of the 27 or 28 lunar mansions in the Indian horoscope) of Uttara Ashadha. This basically translates as ‘later victory’ and is ruled by the Sun. This naksharta is competitive and pushes us to attain great achievements. If you are self-employed, this may be the time to launch a new product or new business plan to increase your customer base. Jupiter, the planet of expansion is still in your second house of money, so any kind of undertaking to increase your bank balance is well-starred these days.

In February, we have an important configuration building up called The Yod or The Finger of God. This will be exact in March 2013 and will affect us all but can already be felt this month. This Yod configuration has two planets, Pluto and Saturn, in a sextile – which means they are in harmony and the focal planet, Jupiter, is in a quincunx. This means that Pluto and Saturn, the other two planets in the Yod, are completely incompatible, sharing neither gender (masculine/assertive or feminine/receptive), element (fire, water, air, or earth), or modality (cardinal, fixed, or mutable). This Yod shines its light across your solar 2nd, 7th and 9th houses, activating either a powerful conduit of energy, or a deeply-felt block, in the direction of the quincunxed planet – which is Jupiter in your house of earned income. The Yod is said to have the potential to trigger major events in someone’s life and if you are facing challenges in these areas, the best way to achieve a positive result is through adaptation and at least considering new paths. It may take great initiative and fortitude to overcome the limitations created by the Yod, but great rewards and gains can be the result. So, again, the focus seems to be on how and how much money you’ll be making over the next few months. For some, the question may also revolve around who to earn money with and what this partnership should look like.

As the month goes on, things are then slowing down a little as two planets are going retrograde. Saturn starts moving backwards from 18th February until 8th July 2013, and Mercury goes retrograde from 24th February until 18th March 2013. Saturn in your house of committed relationship together with Rahu / the North node has put a major focus on this area of your life for the past 6 months and at times, the whole situation would have felt like a pressure cooker about to explode. You’ll now get a break from all this as Saturn moves retrograde which means that you have time to review what you’ve learnt – or rather realised – since August 2012. This may not be the time to press forward with new plans but it gives you an opportunity to figure out if what you have experienced still fits in with what you want in your future. Exciting times.

Mercury in your house of networks, friends, goals, dreams and gains is a good placement and means that your mind is now more focused on the corporate world and how to increase your reach to increase your gains. Although retrograde motion can be a little uncomfortable at times, I kind of get the feeling that for you, it won’t put major stumbling blocks in your way. However, as Mercury rules your 3rd house of travels and communication, make sure you don’t send out the draft version to your customer database and that you doubly double-check your travel plans over those three weeks.

February 2013 horoscope - Taurus

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th May to 15th June of Taurus Ascendants and Moons

By Louise Gilbert
Dear Taurus, you’ll be pleased to hear that Jupiter in your house of self has started moving forward again at the end of January, now making its way rapidly towards your solar second house of finances which it enters in the summer. Jupiter is said to bring expansion to whatever he touches and in your case, as Jupiter entered your 1st house last summer, you may have felt like you are going through a phase of transformation and rebirth. For Taureans, Jupiter is not the easiest planet to handle as it rules your solar 8th house of death and rebirth. Maybe you had to deal with some deeper psychological questions more than usual and it maybe you faced some sort of a crisis or it was a time of social transformation – all of which could have happened quite suddenly. Nevertheless, this is also a very productive placement but also one connected to secrets. In any case, it was probably a cycle of deep inner transformation of yourself which was in all likelihood also connected to your partnerships, despite all the promises Jupiter usually holds.

So for you, February will be split into two halves. At the beginning of the month, your mind is still focused on far-away places, expanding your horizons through travel, education, religion or spirituality. Your solar 9th house is still hosting the Sun, Mercury and Venus until about mid-month after which the energy shifts into your 10th house of life direction and career. Until then, you are most likely to be planning your summer holidays or maybe you’ll be on a plane at this time to top up your Vitamin D levels in some sunnier and warmer climate. You could also decide to sign up for a course which further down the line helps you increase your bank balance – and we know how much Taureans like a full bank account. You’ll have good opportunities to do so later on in the year. In any case, whatever your plans for February are, in all likelihood, they will broaden your mind and maybe even restore some faith and strengthen your beliefs.

The new Moon falls on 10th February in Capricorn and impacts your house of travels and higher education. In Indian astrology, this new Moon which falls into in the nakshatra (one of the 27 or 28 lunar mansions in the Indian horoscope) of Uttara Ashadha. This basically translates as ‘later victory’ and is ruled by the Sun. The main motivation with a new Moon in this nakshatra is spiritual liberation. But Uttara Ashadha is also competitive and pushes us to attain great achievements. So, it seems that if you manage to get away, it will be hugely beneficial for you. This can also be in the form of simply letting new people into your life, from different background that put an idea in your head or maybe just help you look at something from a different perspective.

As this new Moon is so close to an angle in your chart, I’m tempted to talk about new beginnings not just the area of travels and your higher mind but also in your profession and life direction. This is the other big focus this month, one that is already felt at the beginning of February, but in particular after mid-month. It is not often that so many planets gather in one sign so the emphasis on your solar 10th house of career is enormous. You also have Saturn in your house of daily routines including work and fitness in a supportive trine and Jupiter in your house of self in a square, so you almost can’t get away from focusing on what you really want to do in life. I’d imagine that you feel like something really needs to change and with all this Aquarian energy going on, you might feel as though it’s finally time to go it alone when it comes to your career. Or you may just want to have more independence and responsibility in your job. Alternatively, you could also find yourself being rewarded and recognised for a job well done and the promotion you’ve been working towards is yours for the taking.

If you are single and looking, then February is the month when you could meet someone at or through work – someone who very much has his own mind and maybe even has an eccentric side to him or her.

This Yod shines its light across your solar 1st, 6th and 8th houses, activating either a powerful conduit of energy, or a deeply-felt block, in the direction of the quincunxed planet – which is Jupiter in your house of self. It kind of feels as though your urge to transform (maybe it not even that voluntary, Taureans are not the most adaptable of sign to change) is at odds with your daily routines or health as well as demands of a financial nature, including your partners resources. I’d be interested to get your thoughts on how this time period affects you.

As the month goes on, things are then slowing down a little as two planets are going retrograde. Saturn starts moving backwards from 18th February until 8th July 2013, and Mercury goes retrograde from 24th February until 18th March 2013.  Mercury in your 10th house means that although you are now in the spotlight in your job, there may suddenly be something that not completely takes the shine away from the situation but some details of a project may need to be reworked or a project suddenly stalls that makes everyone throws their arms in the air and it’s back to the drawing board. In the end, you may be glad for this slight period of delay as details you were not aware of before emerge over this three week period.

Saturn is in your 6th house of health and work for the next two years means that you now have to focus on what was neglected in these areas in the past. So, initially, the pressure in the areas of work, habits and health may have been felt quite keenly. You’ve by now realised or at the very least you have some idea of what needs to change, get sorted out or eliminated.  This will be one of your task over the coming months, however, with all the focus on your 10th house, it is likely to mainly affect how and where you’ll earn your money in the future.

But apart from that, it is also a good time for starting new health regimens to improve your wellbeing. By the end of the retrograde period, you are likely to be yet a little bit more productive, focused and healthier – in the sense of having recognised and addressed your health issues, if these manifested.

The month then ends with the full Moon on 25th February in your house of home puts the spotlight on your living environment as well as your career. Decisions will need to be made or made for you around this time – maybe those you’ve been waiting for, for some time.

February 2013 horoscope - Gemini

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th June to 15th July or Gemini Ascendants and Moons

By Louise Gilbert
Gemini, for the first week or so of February, you will be finishing up a cycle where your main focus is still on committed relationships. The past couple of months would have been a time for you when you were out and about more, meeting new people in a quest to meet someone special or you would have worked hard on restructuring existing relationships, making decisions on their future – financial - progress and redefining some barriers. This still carries on for the first half of February when your mind revolves around partnerships with all its responsibilities and commitments. Geminis are in a cycle when greater freedom to choose is very important. So although the willingness to make constructive change is there, under no circumstances should this person want to limit and control your movements and limit your freedom. Perhaps you are involved in a long-distance partnership and discussions are now focussed on how to maintain a solid foundation for this relationship and make the best of your joint resources you have.

The new Moon on 10th February in Capricorn gives you the chance to start afresh when it comes to joint resources, loan applications, tax refunds and so forth. In Indian astrology, this new Moon which falls into in the nakshatra (one of the 27 or 28 lunar mansions in the Indian horoscope) of Uttara Ashadha. This basically translates as ‘later victory’ and is ruled by the Sun. But Uttara Ashadha is also competitive and pushes us to attain great achievements.  So, on the one hand, this new Moon is a chance to initiate a new path or a new process that has to do with other people’s resources, it could also have something to do with your employment benefits, but on the other hand, it can also be a time of liberation from fears. Although Saturn is in a position that puts a few obstacles in your way in these areas, Jupiter is in a supportive trine and should offer some opportunities and alternatives to help you out.

This Yod shines its light across your solar 5th, 7th and 12th houses, activating either a powerful conduit of energy, or a deeply-felt block, in the direction of the quincunxed planet – which is Jupiter in your house of behind the scenes activities and letting go.

After mid-month, the mood shifts and you start opening up a little bit more. It is not often that so many planets gather in one sign but Mars, Mercury, the Sun and towards the end of the month also Venus gather in the sign of Aquarius, your solar 9th house of long-distance travel, new experiences and spirituality. The urge to get away, see something new and meet people from all over the world might quite suddenly become more evident. You may also meet someone who acts as a mentor to you and helps you looks at your beliefs or even your entire life from a fresh perspective. If you do manage to get away, then maybe that trip allows you to regroup your outlook on life. This also applies to further education - anything that helps broadens your mind and helps you learn a new skill. With a solar 9th house ruled by Aquarius, Geminis tend to belief in individualism and humanity rather than spirituality and religion, this month, however, you might question some of your long-held beliefs and attitudes due to the people you’ll meet.

As the month goes on, things are then slowing down a little as two planets are going retrograde. Saturn starts moving backwards from 18th February until 8th July 2013, and Mercury goes retrograde from 24th February until 18th March 2013. Saturn currently sits in your 5th house of romance, fun, creativity and children, putting a damper on your spontaneity, your sense of fun and how you view romance. Romance and having fun are deadly serious business for you these days and you might find it more difficult to be playful and go with the flow. You want the way you engage in romantic relationships and affairs to be more structured and even predictable. This is hard work so it’s important you are aware of this pattern, so try and acknowledge that you don't always need a good reason to have a bit of fun. In retrograde motion, Saturn helps you review these patterns and your approach to relationships and enjoyment. You’ve already learnt some lessons over the past months or even year but now, you can start to apply what you’ve learnt. Again, this is a slow learning process and you may have to try a number of times before you get it right.

Mercury in retrograde motion in your solar 9th house which means that you need to take extra care when it comes to travel plans, submitting essays, publishing deals or legal work. Make sure you read the small print and watch out for delays and re-adjustments in these areas until mid-March.

February 2013 horoscope - Cancer

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th July to 15th August or Cancer Ascendants and Moons

By Louise Gilbert
For the first few days of the month, your mind is still very much on relationships and your closest associations. Perhaps you have been dating a lot more since December, met someone new or committed to one particular person. If you are looking then, during this first week of February, you may still find that you are attracting more of what you want in terms of a closer association which may now be more readily available to you. In any case, you’ll have to focus on one-to-one encounters in one way or the other. This also includes business partnerships, and close friendships where you spend a lot of time with one person. It may be that there are still discussions going on about certain aspects in the relationship, potentially connected to your home life and living situation or your joint finances which is something you’ll have to deal with later on in the month.

So the emphasis on relationships is still ongoing until the new Moon on 10th February in Capricorn, your solar house of committed partnerships. With planetary support from Jupiter, the planet of expansion, until the summer, your heart should be opening up a little more and opportunities to enter a solid relationship are there.

Jupiter has been moving direct again since late January and will help you expand your circle of friends and networks. You may start mingling with people from different backgrounds and from all over the world, increasing your chances to meet someone who matches your renewed outlook and optimism. Jupiter is in the house that also rules gains, so your new connections and expanded network can also help you fill your bank balance over the coming months.

After mid-month, things can get a lot steamier under the covers as your 8th house of intimacy will be jam-packed from the on and for most of March. You’re the most touchy feely of the signs anyway but this month, you may really not be able to keep your hands off your sweetie or vice versa. You’re emotional life is undergoing some deeply felt transformation with Saturn in your 4th house, so if you have had some problems with letting people get close to you or even letting go of old relationship patterns, you now have a chance to start working on these challenges. Just be aware of anxieties that spring up from nowhere - you are trying to feel your way around a new emotional state which does take some time to settle and sink in.

Now, all these planets in the 8th house and Saturn in your 4th house of the past and home can also manifest on a more mundane level. There is no doubt you are emotionally quite touched at the moment but these transits could also see you move house and apply for loans to do so. At the same time, it can also affect your partner’s finances and his / her other resources and it’s likely you will have some discussions around your joint financial futures. Insurance and tax issues may also feature – it’s not to say you are losing money but at the very least it does mean that you will be required to sort out the paper work. It’s that time of the year after all, right? So, this month seems to be a time where you have to deal with partnerships on the one hand and joint resources, finances and other people’s money on the other. The month then ends with the full Moon on 25th February in this area of your chart so if you are in the process of applying for a loan or if you are waiting for a tax repayment, then this is the time when decisions should be made for you or at the very least all the facts are on the table and you’ll know what to do next.

What I wanted to highlight for February too is that we have an important configuration building up called The Yod or The Finger of God. This Yod shines its light across your solar 4th, 9th and 11th houses, activating either a powerful conduit of energy, or a deeply-felt block, in the direction of the quincunxed planet – which is Jupiter in your house of friends, networks, humanitarian interests and global corporate connections. It’s also the house of your hopes and dreams.

Things are then slowing down a little as two planets are going retrograde. Saturn starts moving backwards from 18th February until 8th July 2013, and Mercury goes retrograde from 24th February until 18th March 2013. I don’t think this is especially negative as you have already come a long way over the past year in terms of sorting out your emotions and dealing with some things that may have held you back from going after your goals, moving to your dream home, surrounding yourself with the people you want to be with etc. Saturn at the bottom of your chart is never easy but by going retrograde you can take a breather and realise how far you’ve come and understand a bit better where you are headed. When Saturn’s influence hits us first, we internalise everything and depending on other planetary constellations, transits and your current Dasha time period, it can be tough time. But as Saturn moves retrograde, you should now be able to see the end of the tunnel and distance yourself from your emotions a little but more.

February 2013 horoscope - Leo

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th August to 15th September or Leo Ascendants and Moons

By Louise Gilbert
What a month you have ahead of you Leo. Your relationship sector has seldom seen such a cluster of planets all in there the same time. This month, Venus, Neptune, Sun, Mercury, Mars and Chiron and the Moon – gather in your opposite sign of Aquarius culminating with the full Moon at the end of the month on 25th February. It already started at the end of January when you were asked to focus more on one particular relationship – whether that’s business or personal – that required more attention. Normally with so many planets in the 7th house, I’m tempted to say that a relationships changes, becomes more solid, you decide to commit or ask you partner to commit. I’d also say that with Mercury in this house, you are redefining the boundaries of the relationship and you are negotiating and discussing what is missing in the relationship and what needs to improve. Mars rules your 4th house of home, so maybe you are discussion property matters and living situations with your partner now.

All very important stuff of course but with Neptune and Chiron in this house for quite a number of years, it may be your partner that needs your help. Or you may encounter people over and over again that rely on your emotional support. Alternatively, you want to be mindful of feeling resentful in a relationship as well as misunderstandings and miscommunication in your closest encounters. When looking at your chart, I kind of felt that if there were any of these feelings present over the past months or maybe even years, then they are likely to come to the surface now and you will need to discuss them. With so many planets in Aquarius, the energy can be a little single-sided so it’s almost as if there is no getting away from it anymore and in February, you are less likely to carry on idealising your relationships. Saturn is also in a supportive trine and Pluto in a sextile all month which has a sobering effect on how you think about your partnerships. What may have worked previously may no longer serve you as your sense of fun and relating is going through some restructuring. Just be a little bit careful with sudden outbursts of anger this month – Mars in Aquarius is not known for his patience – try and use this energy to your advantage in terms of shaping one-to-one relationships to suit your needs as well as those of your partner (compassion is something else that Neptune in the 7th house requires of you now).

The new Moon on 10th February in Capricorn affects your house of work and health routines. So while you may want or have to focus on your relationships, your work and / or fitness regimes may see some changes in your work or health routine. Perhaps it is you who wants to make changes in these areas but it could also be the case that you’re handed a new work project or you are required to change your diet an advised to take up a stricter exercise regime. You have Jupiter going forward again at the top of your chart in your house of work so I get the sense that most of the changes and new beginnings around the time of the new Moon could be work related.

In February, we also have a configuration which will affect us all building up called The Yod or The Finger of God. This will be exact in March 2013 but can already be felt this month. This Yod shines its light across your solar 3rd, 5th and 10th houses, activating either a powerful conduit of energy, or a deeply-felt block, in the direction of the quincunxed planet – which is Jupiter in your house of your career, profession, reputation and life direction. The Yod is said to have the potential to trigger major events in someone’s life and if you are facing challenges in these areas, the best way to achieve a positive result is through adaptation and at least considering new paths. So while your ideas, inspirations and communication skills combine well with your desire to be more creative, your current profession may be at odds. It may take some initiative and fortitude to overcome the limitations created by the Yod, but great rewards can be the result.

Things are then slowing down a little as two planets are going retrograde. Saturn starts moving backwards from 18th February until 8th July 2013, and Mercury goes retrograde from 24th February until 18th March 2013. As Saturn goes retrograde in your house of relating and communicating, Venus enters your house of close relationships. Communication and relationships are now closely connected and as Saturn moves backwards, you may have to go over old ground again for some time before you can move forward.

The month then ends with the full Moon on 25th February in your house of self. So all this time, you had to focus on other people’s needs and demands but now you’re back in the limelight. Whenever, the Moon is involved, things get more emotional and during the full Moon, things come to an end or at the very least a culmination point. Some possibilities are that you could get engaged, make a significant commitment and decision or, if it hasn’t happened earlier, then your partner now needs your support. In any case, this full Moon will be related to you and other people.

Enjoy your month Leo!

February 2013 horoscope - Virgo

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th September to 15th October or Virgo Ascendants and Moons

By Louise Gilbert
Virgo, for you, February is all about romance. Springs starts early for you (if you live in the Northern Hemisphere) and as the month begins, you are carrying over that flirtatious mood and an open heart from last month. Jupiter has started to move forward again, opening your mind and asking you to broaden your horizons. While this may make you want to look into holidaying in far-flung places, I think that with this desire also comes the kind of openness you need to let new people into your life and if you are single and looking, this transit, together with all the planets crammed into your house children, creativity and true love, can bring a new love interest into your life. Jupiter is in a supportive trine to your 5th house and your Sun, Ascendant and Moon sign now until the summer and with Uranus, the planet of sudden developments, in your 7th house of committed relationships, new liaisons can come your way quite suddenly. This may be quite exciting for you and this person could be quite different from what you’ve seen and known before – maybe someone with a completely different outlook and cultural background to yours. Don’t knock it, you’re meant to be with people that bring something unusual to your life now.

However, when it comes to business partnerships, these transits can often be viewed as disruptive influences so the best thing to do is to think about what each of you contributes to the union and ensure that there are some rules in place. Uranus makes you more independent – or your partner – so there is also a tendency to want to go it all alone.

The new Moon on 10th February in Capricorn also affects your house of romance. For you Virgo, this could be a fresh start for you in your love life. The effects of the new Moon are seen nine months later and with Jupiter in such a supportive angle, this could also relate to children! You can figure out what that means...!

In February and beyond, Jupiter, the planet of expansion, is in an important configuration which will affect us all building up called The Yod or The Finger of God. This will be exact in March 2013 but can already be felt this month. This Yod configuration has two planets, Pluto and Saturn, in a sextile – which means they are in harmony and the focal planet, Jupiter, is in a quincunx. This means that Pluto and Saturn, the other two planets in the Yod, are completely incompatible, sharing neither gender (masculine/assertive or feminine/receptive), element (fire, water, air, or earth), or modality (cardinal, fixed, or mutable) with the third planet, Jupiter. This Yod pulls its weight across your solar 2nd, 4th and 9th houses, activating either a powerful conduit of energy, or a deeply-felt block, in the direction of the quincunxed planet – which is Jupiter in your house of far-away places, beliefs, faith, higher education and the law.

The Yod is said to have the potential to trigger major events in someone’s life. It could be that finances and property matters, your home and your emotions are at odds with your wish to get away for a little while.

A shift then takes place after mid-month and while you were previously so focused on your love life, your work and / or health routines now take over and require some attention. It does not happen often that so many planets – Venus, Neptune, Sun, Mercury, Mars and Chiron and the Moon – gather in one sign so there may be changes in your work or health routine. Perhaps it is you who is making the changes in this area but it could also be the case that you’re handed a new work project or you are required to change your diet.

Things are then slowing down a little as two planets are going retrograde. Saturn starts moving backwards from 18th February until 8th July 2013, and Mercury goes retrograde from 24th February until 18th March 2013. With so much energy around your work routines – not necessarily your career as such - how you earn your money and how much is under the spotlight now for the next 2 years. With Saturn in your 2nd house of income, what you have available may be somewhat restricted or you feel like there is never enough. Your financial situation is going through some transformation, potentially connected to property and from February, you are asked to seriously review your finances and how you deal with them. Perhaps now is the time to start saving for a new home or our existing property requires a face lift. The purpose of this transit is that in the end, you should emerge with your financial situation in a better shape than before.

The month then ends with the full Moon on 25th February in your house of work and health routines and you may look in the mirror and decide to start with that exercise programme or you may feel like telling your boss what you really think about him – not a great idea but the urge may there, you were warned!

A month of two halves, so enjoy that beautiful earth trine in the first part of February that supports your endeavours.

February 2013 horoscope - Libra

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th October to 15th November or Libra Ascendants and Moons

By Louise Gilbert
Libra, you’re in a very important cycle of growth at the moment, one that heralds a completely new phase in your life. Saturn is in your first house of self and over the next 2 years, you’ll be shedding your old skin – this process is not easy and often painful as it requires you to let go of old habits, people and circumstances you’ve outgrown. Although you may not feel it just yet, you are ready for transformation and change. When Saturn entered your first house for the first time in November 2011 and then again later in 2012, some realisations may have hit you like a rock or you could have just felt a little lonely, not sure which direction to take and where to turn next. That was the beginning of your growing realisation that you and things around you are changing. Saturn is a maturing process so you will do a lot of growing up over the coming months. What is happening in February, is that Saturn moves retrograde from 18th February until 8th July 2013. This means that what you’ve realised should or needs to change in your life over the past few months now really starts to sink in. It’s a time when you start externalising your feelings and you start accepting what has been and what wasn’t so that you can move forward more productively with whatever it is you’re planning to do next. The North node or Rahu is now also in Libra, easing some of the financial pressure you may have felt over the past couple of years. The focus is now really on you and your self-development. I’ve mentioned this in other forecasts too but of course this also affects your relationships. You may now have a stronger than usual desire to meet someone.

Overall, I feel that February will be a fun month for you and really beneficial for romance and love affairs. During February, you have Mercury and Mars in your 5th house of children, creativity and true love. Mars makes you want to take action and Mercury focuses our mind. So this is not the month, your mind is focused on romance and partnership but you will not just talk about what could be, you also have the energy to go for it and attract new experiences into the realm of the 5th house. So, you may start with a creative project or, if you are single, you could meet someone new – at the very least, you’ll feel more outgoing and flirtatious than you did in January. Mars and Mercury are in a good angle to your Libra Sun, Moon or Ascendant, so your energy levels should be higher than off late despite having Saturn in your sign.

After mid-month, the energy is slowing down a little as two planets are going retrograde. Saturn starts moving backwards and Mercury also goes retrograde from 24th February until 18th March 2013. As this relates to all your creative projects as well as love affairs, it’s a time to just go with the flow. I don’t think this Mercury retrograde should cause you too much trouble although there may be some room for misunderstadings, it’s not something you can’t deal with at this moment or that completely takes you by surprise.

If you have been looking at buying or selling a property, making all kinds of changes to your living situation, refurbishing your home or maybe even launching a business from home, then the new Moon on 10th February in Capricorn is a good time to start looking into what is required to help you make these changes. It may also come quite naturally to you as external circumstances can force you to make decisions – Libras are traditionally not the best at being decisive but the current planetary alignments may make decision a little easier for you as things start falling into place more and more.

For you Libra, again, this relates to your home environment and living situation – perhaps also your mother and the relationship you have with her.

This Yod pulls its weight across your solar 1st, 3rd and 8th houses, activating either a powerful conduit of energy, or a deeply-felt block, in the direction of the quincunxed planet – which is Jupiter in your house of other people’s money, insurance, tax, banks loans as well as intimacy. The Yod is said to have the potential to trigger major events in someone’s life and if you are facing challenges around other people’s resources etc., the best way to achieve a positive result is through adaptation or at the very least considering new paths. Jupiter receives this quirky aspect from two very strong planets so ‘hard adjustments’ may be experienced when it comes to other people’s resources, loans and inheritance at the moment.

The month then ends with the full Moon on 25th February in your house of children, love affairs and creativity and you may want to have a heart to heart with your lover or an affair reaches a new peak. As this phase is related to what happened in late May 2012, think back and it should give you a clue in terms of what you’re working towards or what’s coming your way at the end of the month.

Enjoy this (a bit more of a) fun month, Libra.

February 2013 horoscope - Scorpio

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th November to 15th December or Scorpio Ascendants and Moons
By Louise Gilbert
Scorpio, for you, a shift has taken place in January as the North node or Rahu has changed signs to move into Libra, your solar 12th house of the unconscious. With the North node in this position for the next 18 months, your task is to explore your deep psyche, your dreams and simply explore beneath the surface of life. The result at the end of this transit is self-awareness. The way you trust yourself and your instincts intuitively will become more solid over the coming months.

But as we begin February, your mind will be on high alert and you’ll be busy communicating, chatting, texting and phoning all those friends and relatives you haven’t caught up with in a while. You may be travelling a bit more back and forth in that first week of the month. With the shift of the North node enhancing your intuition and shooting sudden ideas and insights through your mind somewhere in the background, it has nevertheless been a very busy and outgoing few weeks for you. With Venus in your house of communication, you would have also felt a little more flirtatious – perhaps one of your New Year’s resolutions was to sign up for that dating website. If that was case, I’d imagine that your inbox must have been buzzing with emails. If not, then the new Moon on 10th February in Capricorn is a good time launch your online profile. It’s a time of new beginnings and good time for starting new projects, initiating or picking up new ideas, learning something new, getting your life admin tackled and taking care of the details of daily life. It is a time when you are more alert and aware and you’ll find it easier to establish a connection with other people.

This new Moon which falls into in the nakshatra (one of the 27 or 28 lunar mansions in the Indian horoscope) of Uttara Ashadha. This basically translates as ‘later victory’ and is ruled by the Sun. The main motivation with a new Moon in this nakshatra is spiritual liberation. But Uttara Ashadha is also competitive and pushes us to attain great achievements. For you Scorpio, it is a new beginning when it comes to all your solar 3rd house initiatives – ideas, communication, short-distance travel and mental stimulation.

Then, pretty quickly your mind will turn more inward and your thoughts turn towards your living situation, your home environment or you simply become a little more emotional. Mercury and Mars both occupy your 4th house during February and this dynamic duo can literally signal ‘get up and go’. If you have been looking for a new property, then this month may be the time kick-start things or you may just do some refurbishment. With Mars in Aquarius, be careful with overreactions and sudden outbursts of anger – Aquarius is a fixed sign, so you’ll be less likely to back down! Venus will join these two in the last week of the month, returning a little more diplomacy if not some calm and quite to your emotional life and living situation.

This Yod pulls its weight across your solar 2nd, 7th and 12th houses, activating either a powerful conduit of energy, or a deeply-felt block, in the direction of the quincunxed planet – which is Jupiter in your house of committed relationships. It maybe that your financial goals currently don’t correspond with the plans your partner has or a business relationship means that you have to dig deeper into your own pockets than you’d currently like to or are able to.

The Yod is said to have the potential to trigger major events in someone’s life and if you are facing challenges in your relationships, the best way to achieve a positive result is through adaptation or at the very least considering new paths. If all fails, the best way to distract yourself from this energy this month is to draw on the support of your family. Surround yourself with your loved ones or do some of that DYI-ing you’ve been meaning to do for so long.

This may all sound a little dramatic but with Jupiter in your house of relationships – this also includes your business partnerships – this area in your chart is protected. Your opportunities in relationships may be expanding or you may meet someone with a big personality and who wants to show you the world.

After mid-month, things are slowing down a little as two planets are going retrograde. Saturn starts moving backwards from 18th February until 8th July 2013, and Mercury goes retrograde from 24th February until 18th March 2013. Saturn is in your house of behind the scenes, finishing up a 29 year cycle of personal development and Mercury is in your house of family and home. So, for example, if you have been looking to buy a property or sell, this period while Mercury is retrograde could be a time when estate agents stand you up, potential buyers don’t show up or solicitors are taken their time even more so than usual getting the deals wrapped up. Once Mercury goes forward again in March, the little details should all fall back into place again. You may be grateful for the retrograde, frustrating as it may seem, as details now emerge that may not have been so available before. Make sure to ask the obvious questions.

The month then ends with the full Moon on 25th February in your 4th house, helping you to finalise property deals and should help you bring family issues or emotional upheaval to a close. At this time, you should know what comes next and what needs to be done –perhaps the Mercury retrograde will help you review the situation as all the cards are now on the table.

February 2013 horoscope - Sagittarius

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th December to 14th January or Sagittarius Ascendants and Moons

By Louise Gilbert
After a couple of years of the North node - or Rahu as it is called in Indian astrology - tugging away at your subconscious, surprising you with sudden insights and perhaps switching on that light bulb, an important shift has taken place in January. You may have experienced a strong desire to move abroad, spend some time with people from far-away places or even retreat in some way while you were pondering which direction your life should take. This process has now come to an end and in February, two of your houses of gains and income are activated as well as the area in your chart that has to do with your daily work and health routines. While you may have decided to be more active, which is never a bad idea, I think all focus at the moment is around making changes in your career – or rather how you can make more money. Especially the first 10 days of the month are a time to negotiate a better salary and remember your own self-worth and what you can bring to the table. With the North node now in your gainful 11th house over the coming 18 months, which is one of its best placements, you will be able to expand your circle of friends, business contacts and financial status. Although Saturn may put some obstacles in the way to test your commitment, I feel that eventually you’ll come out on top – you’re a Sag after all.

If you are in the middle of negotiating deals for a new contract or salary increase, the new Moon on 10th February should provide some support. Again, your solar 2nd house of income is affected by this new Moon which falls into in the nakshatra (one of the 27 or 28 lunar mansions in the Indian horoscope) of Uttara Ashadha. This basically translates as ‘later victory’ and is ruled by the Sun. The main motivation with a new Moon in this nakshatra is spiritual liberation. But Uttara Ashadha is also competitive and pushes us to attain great achievements. For you Sagittarius, it is a new beginning when it comes to your finances.

Although many astrologers think it’s a good time to start new things around the time of the new Moon, which it is, I’d suggest taking a bit more time to make the right decision. During this time, the Moon is not visible so part of the information is hidden – the Moon receives no light from the Sun, so wait a week or so before making your move.

Then, Jupiter, the planet of luck and expansion is in your house of health and work routines started moving forward again late January and now gives a lending hand and provides opportunities around your work – not so much your career as a whole but your daily routines - which should be more readily available. Alternatively, it may also be that you have a bit more stamina and strength to recover from some health troubles.

In February and beyond, Jupiter is also in an important configuration which will affect us all building up called The Yod or The Finger of God. This will be exact in March 2013 but can already be felt this month. This Yod configuration has two planets, Pluto and Saturn, in a sextile – which means they are in harmony and the focal planet, Jupiter, is in a quincunx. This means that Pluto and Saturn, the other two planets in the Yod, are completely incompatible, sharing neither gender (masculine/assertive or feminine/receptive), element (fire, water, air, or earth), or modality (cardinal, fixed, or mutable). This Yod shines its light across your solar 1st, 6th and 11th houses, activating either a powerful conduit of energy, or a deeply-felt block, in the direction of the quincunxed planet – which is Jupiter in your house of work and health. You have undergone some deeply felt transformation over the past years, which is still ongoing with Pluto in your 1st house of self but with Jupiter pulling in an opposite direction from Pluto and Saturn we are all asked to let go of certain patterns, situation and habits in order to become involved in what is showing on the horizon.

The Yod is said to have the potential to trigger major events in someone’s life and if you are facing challenges in your health or work, the best way to achieve a positive result is through adaptation or at the very least considering new paths. What can be a way out this month is to communicate your thoughts and ideas or gain some new inspiration by taking up a course.

After mid-month, things are slowing down a little as two planets are going retrograde. Saturn starts moving backwards from 18th February until 8th July 2013, and Mercury goes retrograde from 24th February until 18th March 2013. Saturn in your house of gains, friends and associates and Mercury in your house of communication means that you will have to be a lot clearer how you express yourself. There is a heavy emphasis on your solar 3rd house in the second half of February so your mind will be racing from A to B to M to D to Z. Try and slow down and while this is can also be a very creative time, think before you speak and make sure you read the small print during the Mercury retrograde. The stellium in Aquarius can make everything seem a little one-sided for some time but in your case, be careful not to insist on your point of view too much.

This is also the month when you may just be travelling – a lot – through work, more so than usual. Just be aware of delays, miscommunication and misinformation during the last week of the month as Mercury starts moving backwards.

Mercury also rules your house of committed relationships, so while there may be lots and lots of text messaging, emailing and Skyping going on, be careful with making the kinds of jokes you later regret. Mars, the planet of aggression is close by so you could come across more forceful than you intended to. Alternatively, you may be reviewing a close relationship, with all its boundaries, commitments and expectations. The same goes for business partnerships – what needs to change and where do we need to find more balance? Finding balance in relationships is key with the North node now in Libra and we will be reminded of that during the time of the eclipses this year. For you, the Mercury retrograde is the time to re-think, re-adjust and make your relationships work better. The drive to change things does not always come from ourselves but can also come through external circumstances, so it may be your partner who wants to make some adjustments – go with it.

You’re the busy bee of the zodiac this month, Sag. You’re never one to rest for long anyway, you’ll be expected to move with the speed to light in Feb, both physically and mentally.

February 2013 horoscope - Capricorn

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 15th January to 12th February or Capricorn Ascendants and Moons

By Louise Gilbert
Capricorn, January was an important month for you which all about letting go before a new annual cycle starts. So as we start February 2013, you still have the Sun in your 1st house of self, Mercury, the planet of communication is also there until the 2nd and Venus will remain your solar 1st house for most of the month, until 22nd February. This means that you still have the gift of the gab. For some of you, it’s of course still birthday month and it’s your time to shine every time you enter the room. You are more outgoing and open which of course also has a very positive effect on your love life. You are more attractive, you feel more attractive and the right people seem to want to be with you.

There is additional reason to be cheerful as Jupiter, the planet of expansion, has finally turned direct again on 31st January in your solar 5th house of true love. In a very good aspect to your Sun, Mercury and Venus, you should feel the boost and light-hearted energy that makes you more flirtatious and ready to have some fun. This is also a time when pregnancies can take place more easily.

Then, the new Moon on 10th February falls into your solar 1st house of self in the nakshatra (one of the 27 or 28 lunar mansions in the Indian horoscope) of Uttara Ashadha. This basically translates as ‘later victory’ and is ruled by the Sun. The main motivation with a new Moon in this nakshatra is spiritual liberation. But Uttara Ashadha is also competitive and pushes us to attain great achievements. For you Capricorn, it is a new beginning in terms of how you view yourself, how other see you and which steps you take in which direction over the coming year.

This Yod shines its light across your solar 5th, 10th, 12th houses, activating either a powerful conduit of energy, or a deeply-felt block, in the direction of the quincunxed planet – which is Jupiter in your house of children and true love, this is a time when children, creative projects or a new lover can influence where you are headed over the next couple of years. Perhaps there is a surprise in store for you but in any case, Jupiter is pulling in an opposite direction from Pluto and Saturn. This can cause you to let go of certain patterns, situation and habits in order to become involved in what is showing on the horizon in these areas as the Yod is said to have the potential to trigger major events in someone’s life. If you are facing challenges in these areas, the best way to achieve a positive result is through adaptation and at least considering new paths. Your life goals you have set for yourself and – it sounds odd but it seems to be an option – your financial goals you have set for yourself will help you hugely with decisions you may have to make in February and beyond. It takes great initiative and fortitude to overcome the limitations or rather challenges created by the Yod, but great rewards can be the result.

So, overall, February 2013 it can be a time to pick up creative projects again and move forward with your ideas. With Mars already in your house of earned income and the Sun, Venus and Mercury joining him there in the second half of February, your projects and creative ideas may also be little money spinners. This also means that your earned income and finances in general will be a bigger focus in the second half of the month.

I am deliberately saying that it can be a time of moving forward with creative projects to boost your income. However, I do feel that an increase in salary or simply what ends up in your purse and bank account is really more related to your career and profession. I know, this sounds obvious but if you have been reading my forecasts in the past couple of months, you may remember reading about the North node / Rahu moving into Libra, your solar 10th house of career, profession and life direction together with Saturn, the great taskmaster. The coming two years will be some of the most transformational when it comes to your career and overall life direction and while some of you may just be changing jobs, others who have had high-flying careers in financial services are bowing out to become yoga teachers. Or you are finally promoted to the position you have been working towards for some time – a word of warning, with Saturn at the top of your chart, this does not happen over time but step by step with a few challenges and reviewing and redoing to be experienced. Saturn has been transiting this area for some time now, but the North node moved in last month but the ongoing Yod configuration will make the areas of necessary change more obvious!

After mid-month, things are slowing down a little as two planets are going retrograde. Saturn starts moving backwards from 18th February until 8th July 2013, and Mercury goes retrograde from 24th February until 18th March 2013. Saturn in your house of career and Mercury in your house of earned income simply means that Capricorns should read the small print more closely and ask questions that may seem obvious but you feel you shouldn’t ignore – not at any other time, certainly not at this time. If you are looking for a new job, read and re-read the contract again. There is a heavy emphasis on your house of finance in February, so the opportunity is there, you just have to search a bit longer and ask a few more questions before you get there. The month ends with the full Moon on 25th February in this area of your life bringing these things to a close.

The, during the Saturn retrograde phase, which lasts for a good few months, we are reviewing fairness, balance and justice in relationships in the area ruled by Libra in our charts. With the eclipses hitting your 10th and 4th solar houses during the Saturn retrograde period, I think this will be a time when you really get down to implementing changes in your career, life direction and for some, also your home environment as a result.

Enjoy the ride Capricorn, I think you’ve been waiting for the word ‘Go’ for some time….it’s finally here.
