Annual solar horoscope 2013 - Sagittarius

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the annual solar horoscope for birthdays from 16^th December to 14^th January or Sagittarius Ascendants and Moons

Happy birthday Sagittarius! Your new solar year begins with a new Moon in your 1^st house of self, setting the scene for the next 12 months. Self-development, love and romance as well as committed relationships will be a big focus for you in 2013, in particular if your Ascendant is in Sagittarius.

Before the focus shifts to relationships at the end of May 2013, a bit more internal work needs to be completed until then with the new Moon in December 2012 putting the spotlight on yourself and on new beginnings in relationships. Although, initially, you may not feel it with so many planets in your 12^th house of behind the scenes activities (where things are a bit foggy) and the North node / Rahu still in the same sign, the time period at the moment really is an opportunity for a brand new start. In order to take advantage of the great aspects around relationships you’ll have in 2013, your emotional life and your past needs to receive a bit of a shake up and there is a need not to simply look at the past to predict your future.  Whatever happened then should not influence your expectations for the future - try and remember that.

When it comes to emotions, it might indeed be other people this year who help you make sense of your newly found or newly developed emotional state or sense of self. Jupiter, the ruler of your 4^th house of emotions will be in your 7^th house of partnerships from 31^st May, so there may be some emotional healing or wisdom-expansion coming to you through relationships. But literally speaking, you could also be moving house, maybe quite suddenly. March and September 2013 look most likely for a change in your home environment to take place.

So mark 31^st May 2013 in your diary as during the 12 months after that, the formation and maintenance of all kinds of one-to-one encounters and partnerships is favoured, including marriage. Although Jupiter in the 7^th house does not in itself mean marriage, it means that your relationships are protected at this time and that there is a lot of room for expansion in this area. You are not meant to go it alone now as other people hold the key to you achieving your goals or expanding and lifting your life in some way. This is a time in your life when other people also play a big role in expanding you consciousness. Alternatively, it may be you (after all, Jupiter is your ruler) who provides support to other people or your partner to help them further their horizons. Perhaps it’s you who is stepping into the role of the mentor, spiritual teacher and the one who passes on knowledge. Jupiter also rules everything that is foreign, so a relationship with someone from abroad could be on the cards – as always, these transits could also relate to a business partnership. One thing to remember with Jupiter in the 7^th house is that it’s important to maintain some boundaries. Jupiter knows no limits, so be careful with how much you give and to whom - as well as take!

In mid-January 2013, the North node/Rahu shifts signs and moves into your 11^th house of hope and dreams, gains, networks and friends. Together with Saturn, it will remain there for the next 18 months. Rahu in the 11^th house of goals amplifies your desire to turn them into reality. The coming 18 months can be a time of considerable gains. With Saturn in tow, it may take some effort, hard work and patience before your dreams turn into reality. In this process, you might also start mingling more with foreigners – in fact, similar to your committed relationships, it may be people from other parts of the world that will help you get what you want in 2013 and beyond. One of the challenges of this year is to manage this push and pull energy that comes about when Rahu and Saturn occupy the same house. Your desire to expand your network in all directions may be there but then Saturn comes along to put the brakes on to remind you that a steady and reliable network will have more impact and use in the long-term. Saturn in the 11^th house for Sagittarius (in particular Sagittarius Ascendants) can help you build a very, very solid financial foundation – but again, after a long, disciplined period of austerity and after you have slowly and steadily built important and supportive relationships at work. For you Sag, Saturn rules your money house so carries this energy and tasks of this house wherever it travels. Therefore, if you play your cards right, financial gains are well within your reach. December 2012 and January 2013 actually look very promising for your bank account to receive a significant boost. It’s the end of the year, so maybe a big bonus is on the cards after all the hard work you’ve put in over the past 12 months. You still have Jupiter in your 6^th house of work until the end of May 2013 so appreciation in your job looks quite likely.

As the year progresses, your 11^th and 5^th house axis will continuously be put under the spotlight by the eclipses. I started paying very close attention to eclipse cycles after having gone through a series of financial changes when the eclipse cycle hit my 2^nd and 8^th house axis some time ago. So, for you Sag, this means that after a year of self-realisation and starting afresh, you are now ready to socialise, mingle and flirt and if you are already coupled up, you may be thinking quite seriously about children. The lunar eclipse at the end of April is the first in this series and brings things to a close, a peak and to a head. Lunar eclipses are more emotional than solar eclipses and offer opportunities to get rid of outdated relationship behaviour or emotional patterns. Think about what happened at the end of July 2012 as whatever emerged then will give you a clue as to whatever story is likely to progress at the end of April 2013.  The solar eclipse follows only a couple of weeks later on 9^th May with another lunar eclipse at the end of May. This time period will feel quite intense but it has a lot of potential for transformation. For you Sag, this eclipse cycle should be a positive one and perhaps less disruptive than for other signs – it heralds a new start in your love life before Jupiter, the planets o expansion moves into your house of committed partnerships a month later. From then on, the choice is really yours as all the opportunities are there. By the end of the year, you will have a very clear picture of who will remain in your life in the long-term. The only thing you have to be careful of this year is your communication – be clear, don’t overpromise and under-deliver in your newly-found enthusiasm for life and pay attention to details in contracts this year.
