Taurus, you start the New Year with emotions running high and deep as your 8th house of intimacy is jam-packed. The Sun, Mercury and from the 4th January Venus, your ruler, join Pluto in this area. It’s also the area where some of our deepest transformations take place and perhaps you are about to experience new levels of intimacy and closeness. This is not something that comes very naturally to a level-headed Taurus but feelings will be more intense than usual. Therefore, these transits really are an opportunity to face your innermost fears and anxieties and accept them as part of who you are. Ultimately, this enables you to deal with them more effectively. This transit is an opportunity to learn that jealousy is not a very healthy emotion in relationships and that they are based on tolerance and balance instead of surrendering to power games.
Alternatively, this transit can simply mean money and other people’s resources. So, for the first half of January 2013, you may have to deal with some (shared) finance-related questions and situations but the new Moon on 11th January should be a bit of a turning point. It’s a time of new beginnings, so if things seem a little slow earlier on in the month and you are waiting for decisions to be made, the new Moon will help move things along somewhat. It seems as though a financial situation is going your way and decisions on loans, insurance payments, tax returns, bonuses etc. should be yours for the taking. Expect another step in the right direction from the end of January and into February when a final decision is made or before payments start coming through. If there are tensions, then after the new Moon and later in the month as well as into February is the time when things ease a lot more and you will gain some more clarity around your finances or those you share with your partner.
In Indian astrology, this new Moon falls in the nakshatra (in Indian astrology, the chart is divided into 27 sections, each is one nakshatra) of Uttarashadha and quite simply means victory. It’s also a competitive nakshatra that pushes us to higher achievements – but always in partnership with others. On the other hand, a new Moon in this nakshatra also means that if we can’t win or reach our goals very easily, we’ll find another path that allows us to achieve these dreams. In this case, again, it relates to your finances, it really seems as though more money should be coming your way in the end.
Another important shift takes place this month Taurus when the North node / Rahu and the South node / Ketu move out of your sign and the one in opposition, Scorpio and into the signs of Libra and Aries on 15th. The nodes represent our destiny, our greatest desires and generally speaking, for the next 18 months while Rahu is in the partnership sign, many of us are seeking and even craving the best from one-on-one relationships and more balance in the house ruled by Libra in your chart. Our task now is to learn to share with others and get to know the other’s likes, dislikes, quirks, habits, routines, hopes, wishes and fears. Ultimately, lasting companionship based on true reciprocity is the goal over the next 1 ½ years, especially with Saturn in the same sign. It’ll seem like slow process at times but the results can last a lifetime. It’s a time when we can achieve inner balance necessary for us to achieve our goals through partnerships cooperation with others. In Indian astrology, this placement is considered to magnify a passion for beauty, design, harmonious relationships, and social order. Rahu is insatiable and enlarges everything it touches, so some of us may take ‘risks’ and become a bit obsessive in wanting to achieve beautifully balanced, equitable social arrangements. Due to the insatiable nature of the Rahu, balancing multiple relationships, and keeping up a flawless public appearance becomes crucial. For you Taurus, this happens in your 6th house of health routines and work. It is also the house of conflict and potentially divorce. This is not to say that you will get divorced, however, Rahu magnifies everything it touches so there may be more inclined to give in to arguments and confrontation instead of taking a deep breath. Alternatively, you could be more prone to attract imbalanced relationships because the 6th house is the house where we are asked to be of service so there is a natural imbalance at play. While this often relates to business and personal relationships, it can also extend to co-workers or your own employees. The more you are aware of this the better you will be able to handle this transit.
The second half of the month is then a lot more light-hearted and outgoing than the first half. You are less bogged down with finances and less focussed on the thoughts swirling around your head, after all finances and emotional security is practically one and the same thing to a Taurus, and instead, you now look at the bigger picture. Planets start moving into the house of the higher mind, travels, religion, spirituality and further education – all areas in life that expand your horizons. Your thoughts may be on far-away places or perhaps you even are on a plane to warmer climates and to soak up some culture. The full Moon on 27th January may make you feel a little more restless and in need of some mental stimulation, so a good time to start planning that holiday or even work on an idea you’ve had and which, as part of your New Year’s resolutions, you are now ready to implement. However, it could also be the case that other people are chewing your ear off, a pile of paperwork needs to be worked through, your siblings are a little more demanding or your car needs an MOT. This full Moon receives planetary support from Jupiter and Uranus, so situations connected to these areas could develop and happen quite quickly.
The month then ends with Jupiter in your 1st house moving forward again. Since the summer of 2012 you may have felt more upbeat and that the future is brighter than it has been for some time. This transit it about learning and gaining new experiences and in your case, it is about not hiding your talents anymore and having the courage to be more outgoing. It’s a time when you believe in yourself more and a time of personal growth. Often, I have seen pregnancies taking place under this transit but other factors need to be in place too. In any case, this can also be a possibility as the 1st house is also your physical body and Jupiter expands everything it touches – which also means not to overdo it with the sweets. Jupiter moving forward again simply means that the flow and the movement towards growth should be a little more smooth again.
