May 2013 horoscope - Cancer

Cancer, the focus on your career and profession remains as we head into May and after the lunar eclipse at the end of April, which in all likelihood introduced some significant changes to your professional life, you are ready to seize some of the opportunities that May holds in store. April 2013 was one of the more intense months of the year so far with the first of the eclipses affecting this area in your life and with the ongoing square between Pluto and Uranus being exact at the end of April.

Rarely do so many planets gather in one sign at the same time as they do in May and if you are planning to change jobs, you may find yourself in discussions with potential employers or negotiating your promotion and salary package with your current boss. For the first week in May, the stellium in Aries promises a lot of quick action and reaction, determination and hopefully progress where your career or your true calling is concerned.  Although there may still be some obstacles and some pushing and pulling in terms of combining these opportunities with your living situation or your own sense of not having enough emotional support to achieve what you want to achieve at the moment. However, although it is still a time of powerful change, transformation and a turning point for many Cancerians, it should feel more like a month of new beginnings and progress rather than more, sudden developments that take you by surprise. You now know what the next steps should be and it’s unlikely you want to hold yourself back further. Even though Cancerians appear to be one of the ‘weaker’ in need for someone to look after them, they are in fact, some of the most ambitious and independent people out there when it comes to their professional life. So, if recently thought about setting up shop by yourself, go for it – it’s likely you’ll achieve more and quicker. As new professional opportunities are knocking on your door, the solar eclipse on 10^th May, and especially the days after, are the best time to start afresh, launch your business and seriously think about how to increase your client base. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon stands between the Sun and Earth. However, a new Moon also cuts off the light of the Sun, so whatever is beginning now, may not carry all the details that you need to make informed decisions and really understand what it is that is coming into your life now – so kick-start any campaigns, start looking around for new positions or the best people to help you launch your business.

Once the eclipse has passed, things start accelerating swiftly and over the course of the two weeks after, leading on to the lunar eclipse on 25^th May, you’ll very quickly have a good idea of what exactly it is that’s falling into place now. Whatever is beginning now could be phased in over a period of months and you should expect to reap the rewards of the seeds sown around the time of the next lunar eclipse in October and until February 2014 when you will reach another milestone.

This solar eclipse is in the nakshatra of Bharani, ruled by the Venus, which will be transiting through her own sign of Taurus. The nakshatra of Bharani has an understanding and a sixth sense for the acquisition of accrued wealth but this nakshatra also represents the person who ‘carries and bears’. For you this may mean that although new job opportunities appear, these could all have a good deal more responsibility attached to them and written in the contract.

But although all the emphasis around income and your position at work is keeping you on your toes a more fundamental and long-term shift is taking place. Saturn is still going through your house of emotions, home, your past and family. This can feel a bit like you’re ready to jump and move on to bigger and better places but something is holding you back. Saturn may temporarily cause some emotional anxiety and transiting through the 4^th house, the lowest point in your chart, may literally make you feel as through you’ve hit rock bottom. This transit also indicated that your home life may feel somewhat restricted and ‘cold’ as you are required to make some fundamental changes about where and with whom you’ll share the dinner table moving forward. By the time the lunar eclipse comes round on 25^th may, you’ll know more and you’re ready – perhaps quite literally – to make your move.

Around the same time, at the end of May, the Sun, Mercury and Venus join up with Jupiter in your house of friends, networks and gains. This a very social and outgoing time with new people around you that can help you further your career or introduce you to those will do so in the future. If you are single and looking, then these transits should be a welcome respite from all the tension you may have been feeling lately.  

It can also be a gainful time for you if you play your cards right. Perhaps you’ve already found yourself in professional situations over the past year where you had to manage conflict such as buying and selling of debts, re-financing of loans etc. – although this may not be your calling at the moment, it could have benefited you financially. This month, be a little careful who to trust with your money and friendship as Neptune, the planet of illusion, has his eye on these areas in your life. Instead, use this energy to follow your intuition.
