May 2013 horoscope - Taurus

Taurus, over the past weeks, you may have felt a need to turn inward for a period of time to listen to what your dreams are telling you and that inner voice that guides you intuitively. Perhaps you had less energy than you usually do and others may have been drawn to you instinctively for advice, guidance or simply an open ear during this period when your empathy levels are higher than usual. As you finish off April and head into May, this inward turning process still continues for a little while as you gather your energies before you start your new solar year. You may feel as though your shots on target were like throwing stones into a bottomless pitch – in particular if the demands of daily life including increased responsibilities at work or some niggly health concerns keep you from building on your success. In addition, Neptune in your house of life direction and career is also adding to the slightly intangible nature of things around you at the moment. However, all this energy is making you more creative, receptive and empathetic and if you have been thinking about changing career, then perhaps have a think about how you can apply these softer touches in the future.

So, as we enter May, very soon, you will feel a change in the air. We have seen a lot of sudden events, explosions and anger across the world over these past weeks during the stellium in Aries but as planets move into Taurus, a more peaceful time should be upon us. Although I say peaceful, all of us are still feeling the intensity of April which was one of the more intense months of the year so far with the first of the eclipses and with the ongoing square between Pluto and Uranus being exact. For you Taurus, this square affects your friends and associates but also how you earn your money as well as resources other people make available to you and you can make use of. This is a time of powerful change, transformation and a turning point for many of us and as we enter May, you should feel like a new cycle starts for you and progress is in the air once again rather than sudden developments that take you by surprise. As more and more planets gather in your signs, all the focus is on you – you may feel more attractive with the drive and energy to start implanting the plans you’ve hatched over the past weeks. These transits also have a positive effect on your love life and if you have been unsure of your relationship recently, you should be able to gain more clarity now. You attract a lot of good to you now, so choose wisely. 

While opportunities in many walks of life are there for you now, I feel that it is your vocation and life direction that hold your attention now. As you underwent some fairly big changes over the past year – in all likelihood, you’ll only realise this now to what extent your life expanded – you are now looking how to make the most of these opportunities and the new vision for your life you’ve developed. Over the course of May, as planets move through the sign of Taurus and Jupiter gets ready to depart your sign and into your money house, your financial plans, hopes and dreams should be coming together as from June onwards all your money houses are activated for another year. 

The solar eclipse on 10^th May in your house of day to day activities, work and health kick starts you into starting afresh when it comes to your daily habits and how you go about your business – including your place of work. This means that you can make productive changes now in this area and implement new routines. Alternatively, and I’ve mentioned this before, the 6^th house where the solar eclipse take place, is also the house of conflict and disagreements when it comes to marriage and other committed relationships. With so much focus on yourself at the moment (in the most positive sense!), you may even find yourself deciding to start afresh and without your current partner. However, much of this will also depend on the dasha period you are currently going through, not just the transits. 

Generally speaking, a solar eclipse occurs when the Moon stands between the Sun and Earth. This means that a solar eclipse is always a new Moon, marking new beginnings. However, a new Moon also cuts off the light of the Sun, so whatever is beginning now, may not carry all the details that you need to make informed decisions and really understand what it is that is coming into your life now. As with the lunar eclipse, solar eclipses bring in life’s big events – a marriage or divorce, birth or pregnancy, a house sale or purchase or an important trip. Whatever it is, things are progressing swiftly now and the planets are intent on pushing you towards your next step. Although this also means that something has to end before something new can come in, the emphasis really is more on the beginning than the finish – you’ve done that with the lunar eclipse at the end of April. Whatever is beginning now could be phased in over a period of months and you should expect to reap the rewards of the seeds sown around the time of the next lunar eclipse in October and until February 2014 when you will reach another milestone.  

This solar eclipse is in the nakshatra of Bharani, ruled by the Venus, which will be transiting through her own sign of Taurus. The nakshatra of Bharani has an understanding and a sixth sense for the acquisition of accrued wealth but this nakshatra also represents the person who ‘carries and bears’. For you this may mean that although new opportunities around your health and work routines appear, it could at the same time result in more responsibility towards those in need. If you have pets, then this may also apply to them now! 

As the Sun, Mercury, Venus are conjunct Jupiter at the end of the month, this should really be a beautiful time that makes what you’ve work on up to this point in May ‘more solid’. Especially those Taureans born during the last five days in May or with their Ascendant or Moon signs at around 10 – 15 degrees of Taurus will feel this uplifting energy the most before Jupiter departs your sign before he returns in 12 years’ time. The lunar eclipse will put the spotlight on your relationships and again, either turn existing partnerships into something rock solid or, if necessary, bring those partnerships on the rocks to an end. As a Taurus, you often find it hard to let go but the lunar eclipse may almost force you to make a decision and if it doesn’t come from you, then it may be your partner initiating the break. This lunar eclipse really favours those who are single as it signifies a change in your current status so the end of May could see you enter into a new, significant relationship. 

…..just remember, there are a mixture of energies in place – kind of an ‘overabundance’ of energies that can make you go overboard in terms of expectations on yourself and others.
