August 2013 horoscope - Cancer

It’s still your birthday month, so happy birthday Cancer! As we head into August the stellium in Gemini is still in place connected to the ongoing Grand Trine in air with Saturn and Neptune. During these times, we tend to be highly idealistic, we intellectualise situations and issues but we are also more social during this time. We formulate our ideas, develop connections and expanding our mental faculties with greater ease. All of the airy Gemini energy opposes transformative Pluto, who, in your 6^th house of health, work, pets but also conflict and arguments has been changing how you go about your routines over the past years. All of this also means that even though it’s still your birthday month, you may not have felt particularly cheery and outgoing – just yet. You’re still digesting the past year and the experiences you’ve made, you’re still debating where to go next in career and relationships and, more than anything, where. If you’re feeling a little confused and even overlooked at the beginning of August, don’t worry, you need the time to recuperate.

Things will soon get very busy for you and after the first week of August, you’ll feel the change in the air. You’ll be communicating a lot, using or building your social media skills as you build your client base, make new contacts or do some online dating. The new Moon on 6^th August in your own sign is the best time to start these new ventures, projects and activities – give it six months and you should see some incredible results.

This new Moon is in the nakshatra of Aszlesa, ruled by Mercury. It’s the intimate connection and embrace. It’s where we find emotional strength to defeat your enemies. It’s also a time when we are emotionally needier than at others times and with Mercury, the ruler of this nakshatra in the same sign of Cancer, you or others in life may speak before they think and react to events more emotionally and even harshly with Saturn eye on this new Moon. All of this is connected to your finances and if negotiations don’t go your way immediately, take a step back. However, I feel that money-wise you don’t need to worry this month (and especially next month!) – it’s looking excellent. For some you, a boost in your finances may be down to a property sale you’ve been waiting for since earlier on in the year.

Cancerians, like the other cardinal signs (Aries, Libra and Capricorn), have been under some pressure from Saturn and the eclipse cycle. I know I’ve already said this last month but now, with the new Moon in your sign and planet moving out of your house of loss, liberation and behind the scenes activities, you are really ready to start implementing your long-hedged plans. Again, a lot of this is connected to your finances but a lot also has to do with your home, where you want to live, your emotions and your past. You’re currently rebuilding the foundations of your life and if you’ve felt as though you’re wandering through a thick cloud of fog over the past months and weeks, you’ll soon see how valuable that preparation phase was. You’ll also see that you are probably only now ready to go out and get that new job or open up to a new relationship. This month, your home could become your office as changes around your work and finances are imminent.

Once Mars moves into your sign on 19^th August, there is no holding back anymore. Although Mars doesn’t feel very comfortable in Cancer as he can’t direct his energies very productively, he feels quite comfortable in an angular house – your solar 1^st. This gives you just a little bit more energy and bite to implement those career plans and attract the right people to do business with to you. Plus, an extra dose of confidence has never done any harm, especially for a Cancerian.

The full Moon on 21^st August is in your 8^th house of joint finances and resources, conjunct Neptune and this is a time when things could get a little topsy turvy. Whatever comes to a conclusion, a peak or an end is connected to what began in February 2012. You may pay off a loan, get one approved or pay off a tax bill – of you realise where the shortfalls around your finances are. Equally, this may also be the time when you hold discussions about salary with a current or new employer or with your international client base. Connections to abroad are still very strong this month.

August ends with all planets, not counting Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, spreading out in six subsequent houses. Vedic astrology calls this Kal Sarp Yoga when all the planets are hemmed between Rahu and Ketu or the Moon’s nodes. With this combination, there is a rather deep and complex compulsion across the axis of the nodes – Aries and Libra, your areas of home and foundations vs. your life direction and career. Where now do a lot of subconscious processing of the past, we’re more withdrawn as we work on unresolved emotions. Across the Aries and Libra axis, there is a lot of growing beyond unhealthy relationship patterns and how we communicate in relationships.

Apart from more awareness – or urgency - for you Cancer, the end of the month could be a time of some temporary anxiety around your profession and life direction, so keep your confidence up and remind yourself that whatever situation you are in, you’ve been working towards some sort of a change in many ways. And this doesn’t come without treading into new and unknown territory.
