November 2012 horoscope - Capricorn

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 15^th January to 12^th February

The big news this month is of course the solar eclipse on 13^th November at about 10pm GMT just at the end of Libra conjuncting the North node in Scorpio. This is a hugely exciting month, sparking a lot of changes in all our lives.

New moons are new beginnings – sometimes the ones we can’t see immediately – but tied into the eclipse, it’s might be time of powerful change, transformation and a turning point for many Capricorns. Particularly as the eclipse is in an angular house sparking changes in your professional life, the home life, it can impact relationships – simply put, it might impact Capricorns’ entire life direction. Angular houses in the horoscope are dynamic and planets in the 1^st, 4^th, 7^th or 10^th houses express the most action and have the strongest impact. Same with the rulers of these houses. However, in the 10^th house particularly, the eclipse relates to our profession, career, vocation and life direction, our levels of authority, status and the father or parents. Sometimes it is also just the person that has had the most influence over our lives. There may be a sudden promotion for some Capricorns, and haven’t you earned it! With the Moon as the ruler of the solar 7^th house, the eclipse might also bring a welcome shake-up in your relationships. For the next six months until the lunar eclipse occurs in the opposite sign of Aries, the focus will be on these areas. Watch out for further clues and progress in these matters when the North node passes the eclipse point on 15^th January and for the lunar eclipse in May 2013.

Looking at Vedic astrology, this solar eclipse is in the nakshatra of Vishakha, ruled by Jupiter. Jupiter gives strength, faith and optimism while Vishakha Moons are said to reap the fruits of their labour only after some time and some effort. With Saturn in the same sign as the eclipse, some delays may well occur and some effort and discipline may be required.

Venus, the ruler of the Capricorns’ solar 10^th house, is transiting the solar 9^th house until the 17^th November. Although Venus is in Virgo where it doesn’t feel so comfortable, it is still in trine to expansive Jupiter and during this time, travelling for work may be on the cards and love for everything foreign is more pronounced. Foreign connections, learning and generally expanding your horizons may now be beneficial for your career.

Mercury goes retrograde on 7^th November in the solar 11^th house of friends, community, socialising, clubs, associates, hopes and wishes and the global, corporate marketplace. It’s been a busy time for Capricorns in this area; many would have been out and about perhaps more than usual and put their energies into expanding their social network. Again, as Mercury rules the solar 9^th house, people from various cultural or religious backgrounds may have featured. Mercury retrograde causes delays but it’s also a time to rethink, redo, remake, rebuilt and reassess. This retrograde period is a time to get new insights into your own ambitions, maybe also those of a friend or group. You may even reconnect with an old friend. The 11^th house is also the house of gains, acquisitions and obtainment from the corporate world, so plans, projects and goals that were ambitiously put together with Mars in this house maybe reviewed. For some, this may also be connected to your partner’s children (those from a previous marriage or relationship, not your own). Mercury moves over the eclipse point on 18^th and 19^th November back into Libra, so your mind might then be firmly focused on the issues, news, opportunities and emerging circumstances which came to light around the time of the eclipse. Once Mercury goes direct on 27^th November and things in all these areas become much clearer again and thing can start moving forward from them on.

Busy times for Capricorns! The keywords that spring to mind for November somehow seem to be: global, gains, career and friends. The full moon across the 5^th and 11^th house axis of children & creativity and social networks & gains on 28^th/29^th November will bring some of the things connected to these areas out in the open or to a close.
