September 2014 horoscope - Leo

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16^th August to 15^th September or Leo Ascendants and Moons

Leo, two things are your priority this month and that is your money and your relationship(s). You still have Venus in your sign until the last week of September making sure you feel sexy, attractive and charming. This appeals not only to potential romantic suitors but employers also appreciate someone who can take the lead but who is a great team player and a bit of a diplomat at the same time. So both romantically and in terms of your finances, this looks to be a busy month for you – perhaps you are waiting for a bit of news about one or the other which the full Moon on 8^th September should bring to your letter box or inbox. In particular for you, this is a full Moon that has to do with other people, contracts and agreements of which romantic relationships are also a part. Things come to a conclusion around this time in terms of relationships and the status quo of those. This is quite a romantic full Moon and one that can be a little overwhelming emotionally. Single Leos could fall in love at this time but keep your eyes wide open – Neptune is close by and can put situations and people in a rosier light than you’d like to admit. For some Leos, this time period can also mean that you have to support your partner or other people more than during other times – close relationships currently demand your full support and care. Now, this full Moon also carries the theme of work and life direction with it this year and if you have been thinking about leaving work, changing jobs and career, then it’s likely that you will either make that decision now or it will be done for you. Mars helps you on your way in September too, making sure you invest a bit of time and energy into where you’d like to be ‘in five years’ time’…just as well that you can divert your attention as things at home are a bit stressful at the moment. 

Added to that is the fact that for one reason or the other, you will have to start taking a very close look at your finances. Sure, it’s your birthday and you may want to hit the summer sales and why not but you will have to take a look at the longer term now. The solar eclipse in your money house on 24^th September is the first in a row of eclipses that kick-starts your investment, savings and pension planning. With Uranus in opposition to the eclipse, money could come and go quite suddenly and quickly - luckily Mercury provides a little bit of support, honing your negotiation skills and making sure, the information you need is available or on its way to you. 

Generally speaking, as opposed to a lunar eclipse, which often brings things to a dramatic peak or even end, the solar eclipse is a new beginning – but of course, in the first instance, this also means an end of some kind. It can be equally as intense as the lunar eclipse but we start something new, possibly due to outside influences, and we make choices based on what is coming out into the open. We just don’t quite see where we are headed next. Whatever is beginning now starts to emerge and eventually come to its own natural end over the next 2-and-a-bit years.

In Vedic astrology, this solar eclipse is in the nakshatra of Uttaraphalguni, which is ruled by the Sun. It’s the nakshatra of the ‘social worker’, the one who helps those who need it most, the one who heals and counsels others. This is an intellectual placement, you are now brilliant with details, very capable at explaining how you feel and understand what you truly value.  

Just a few words on Venus in Virgo – Venus is travelling through this sign and your income zone until 19^th October. Venus doesn’t do too well in small-minded and detail-oriented Virgo. Venus’ charm and sense of beauty gets a bit lost in the intellectual and airy environment that is ruled by Mercury and in the sign of Virgo, she can be self-criticising which can also mean lower than usual self-esteem. Although great for healers and counsellors, Venus in Virgo is the perfectionist, over-stimulating a restless mind with nervous, doubtful questioning of the validity of much of one’s appearance and ability to always differentiate between the rights and wrongs in relationships and what you should be able to expect from others. In your case, you could be the one who criticises others, perhaps there are a few family issues that need to be discussed, or there is a tendency to spend more than you should at this moment in time. The crucial point, however, is not to underestimate yourself and your abilities – especially when it comes to your career. Have a great month, Leo!
