Full Moon, October 2012 - a general overview

Although I follow the sidereal calendar - which means that the full Moon takes place on 29th October 2012 at 7.48pm GMT in the sign of Aries - it still contains the same aspects and has the same impact. I will also be posting a full Moon horoscope with an overview of what this means for all zodiac signs.

I took this picture of the super moon
in London a couple of years ago
Although this full moon has moved away from its square to Uranus and Pluto where drama was at an all time high, we are still in the process of transformation and powerful emotions are at play. It is still a time of ultimatums and issues concerning balance, fairness, independence, co-dependence and the courage to own yourself are coming to the surface now. This month, Saturn is also thrown into the mix and is conjunct the Sun and opposing the Moon. Saturn does not have the patience for overegged emotions. So, instead, it wants us to focus on the real issues at hand.

The full moon falls in the nakshatra of Ashwini which rules the period from 0 to 0°-0'-0" to 13°-20' in Aries. It is the first of the 27 nakshatras (or wives of the Moon) and is ruled by the South node. The South node is our past and what we have to let go of. Ashwini moons generally prefer dynamic environments, activity and forward movement. It is a swift, results-oriented, fast-paced nakshatra that demands immediate reaction and action. With all this transformation and evolution going on in the sky, the pressure really is on to be bold and be disciplined about what structures and rules are not working anymore.

Depending on where it falls in your chart, it is a time to look at where we need to be more independent from other people and where we are not strong enough to stand on our own two feet. It is a time to plant new seeds and do something innovative and pioneering – but most of all be true to yourself! Aries is me myself and I; this about what you want in your life and your goals. How can you be more innovative and creative?

Wherever the full Moon falls in your chart there will be a need to be more honest. What if it falls across the 1st the 7th house axis of relationships? It’s a time to tell people what you need and what you certainly don’t need anymore. It’s an opportunity to realise what is important to you in a relationship and from a partner. Of course it can also mean that your partner suddenly places more demands on your time and energy. Partnership issues may come to a head and it will be a period where to stand up for yourself. It is not a time to give all the power away to someone else like the Sun in the 7th house often likes to do.

With the full moon in Aries, it is a time when you want to take action – road rage may be one of the manifestations of this so take care! Make important decisions after the full moon but use the time to think about what it is that needs to change.

However, with all the passionate Aries energy going on, Saturn in the opposite sign of Libra will help us achieve more balance, discipline and implement better structures. Watch out for July 2013 where the results or next milestone in the story is likely to unfold.
